	2:08pm doctorjazz: Great track, big Henderson fan... on a different track...there is a "Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration" coming to PNC Bank Performance Center in NJ this summer. Anyone know anything about it?
	2:09pm Parq: Why is jazz the only type of music where radio announcers run through all of the musicians on a track? Back in the Mesozoic era, when I was on college radio, I tried doing the same thing with major-label rock tracks and had to stop because I couldn't keep from laughing.
	2:10pm Uncle Michael: Because bands weren't static and even if you cared, how could you keep up? Because on a given session, many sidemen were well-known leaders?
	2:10pm Dean: Cripes, imagine having to back-announce a performance of Mahler's 8th symphony.
	2:11pm doctorjazz: Because the solo is a big part of the performance, so just knowing that the pianist is the leader but not who took that wild tenor solo is incredibly frustrating...
	2:12pm Uncle Michael: I don't think I'd play Dave Edmunds' "Sweet Little Lisa" without mentioning that Albert Lee is a guest soloist on it. I think it's similar.

	2:26pm Webhamster Henry: Three Penny Opera really was popular .. running off-Broadway (when the whole idea of Off Broadway was new) . It ran about 7 years, which back then was a blockbuster! If a show lasted more than a few months it was considered a hit! ThreePenny was a flop in English in the early 30s, Blitzstein's new (less edgy) lyrics, and also more familiarity with Americanized Kurt Weill probably helped a lot.

	2:09pm Parq: Why is jazz the only type of music where radio announcers run through all of the musicians on a track? Back in the Mesozoic era, when I was on college radio, I tried doing the same thing with major-label rock tracks and had to stop because I couldn't keep from laughing.

If a show lasted more than a few months it was considered a hit! ThreePenny was a flop in English in the early 30s, Blitzstein's new (less edgy) lyrics, and also more familiarity with Americanized Kurt Weill probably helped a lot.
