Gene Clark song by the Rose Garden, I believe. Even sounds like him.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

"OK, little otter. That's enough swimming for today."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm
Doug Schulkind:

Hi Amanda and Amandafans!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm
Amanda:

@KP, yes, it was a Gene Clark song. @Ken HP -- I just learned that otters do this! The Bronx Zoo has a new baby otter (a different type). In the movie about him/her you can see the parent doing the same thing.

Amanda:

I LOVE that Needle in a Haystack. A big staple of my live DJ sets back in the day.
Avatar 12:46pm
KP:

Could never come to grips with Big Star's vocal sound as opposed to the Boxtops.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm
Amanda:

Apparently in the 60s Chilton was coached to sing in a trendy, lower voice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm
Jeff Golick:

Ahoy-hoy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm
Stevel:

Martin Mull for president. More likeable arrogant than some.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm
Stevel:

That's likeably, which apparently is not a word
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm
Jeff Golick:

Happy to see Mull guesting on the great Veep last Sunday.
Avatar 12:52pm
ndbob:

Great song - always loved this - found it one day at the flea market - had no idea what it was
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm
Amanda:

@ndbob, I love it too -- sorry about the skips!

Martin Mull is totally likeable, and maybe deservedly arrogant? For how accomplished he is, to me he seems kind of modest.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm
Stevel:

Yea, Replacements! Bragging: Had a small pic on the original Hootenanny (PW on the floor) and scored some pics in the Bob Mehr Book recently out (which is pretty terrific) titled Trouble Boys.

Bragging complete.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm
Stevel:

Amanda: Did you ever get to watch Fernwood (or America) Tonight? Great stuff, or as MM would say to guests, "That's darned near interesting."
Avatar 1:00pm
ndbob:

@Amanda no problem with the skips - originally on La Louisianne then ABC - I think a band teacher and his students? not sure about that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm
Amanda:

@Stevel -- yes, it's great!
Avatar 1:16pm

This joy is pretty intense!

Johnny Unitas. Now there's a haircut you could set your watch to.

For sure Slim

Nate K:

One of the things I like about this episode is that it sets up so perfectly the hippie Homer "D'oh-in' in the Wind" episode e few years later.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm
Jeff Golick:

I think the animated show "Archer" has borrowed that "column A/column B" line.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm
Jeff Golick:

I think Jane Jacobs taught Bob this one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm
Jeff Golick:

(www.theglobeandmail.com...) Jacobs' centenary today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm

Aw, cool article @Jeff! Thx for the share.
