Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm Parq:

Listening to the K-Tel commercial and picturing all my LPs pitching forward on the floor when the gizmo can't handle the momentum of the forward-moving vinyl.

Avatar 12:29pm Cecile:

from the NY Times obit:

Act now! Be the first on your block to read this obituary of the marketing guru who — as seen on TV — sliced, diced and polkaed his way to fortune!

"Reared in penury, he bewitched and beguiled the public to become an international tycoon, only to lose everything and then, undaunted, make it back again!

Just two dollars and five thin dimes at any New York City newsstand gets you the print edition of this obituary — along with dozens more articles at no extra charge — commemorated with the date and suitable for framing! Quantities are limited, so don’t delay!"
  12:33pm Bill in W.O.:

en.wikipedia.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm coelacanth:

(he would've caught it though...and then eaten it.)
Avatar 1:54pm geezerette:

I see it! :D
Avatar 1:55pm geezerette:

I know a golden retriever who's eaten lead type!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm coelacanth:

Yikes. -but golden retrievers seem to usually have eating disorders, so no surprise.
my sister had one that ate herself to death via fiberglass insulation and "dog-safe" mouse traps with poison inside them...amongst other things.
Avatar 2:04pm Cecile:

golden retrievers are "mouthy" and food oriented. Not a great combination.
Avatar 2:04pm geezerette:

The lead eater's well chewed shoes, tools, etc. have been framed by his owner and hung on the walls. He calls it Dog Art.(The owner does. That dog can eat anything but he doesn't speak English.)
Avatar 2:05pm Cecile:

wow, these guys actually wrote a song with actual feelings. It's good!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm coelacanth:

ya, my sister wishes she could frame the $100. bills that dog ate.
Avatar 2:08pm geezerette:

Matrix Tapes!!!
Avatar 2:08pm Joe B:

ha, glad they finally won you over cecile!
Avatar 2:09pm Joe B:

thanks again to everybody for tuning in, haven't been able to keep up with the comments today but thanks for making them!
Avatar 2:09pm Cecile:

Oh, I liked them, but their songs were kind of brilliantly dumb. This one is a little smarter and it doesn't lose anything.
Avatar 2:10pm Joe B:

I hear ya
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm coelacanth:

Thank YOU Joe!
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 2:15pm Jeff from Rahway:

Can't get enough Feelies either Joe. I have most of the Feelies' original releases on vinyl or CD and was hesitant about pulling the trigger for the reissues. This song may convince me otherwise.
Avatar 2:15pm Michael:

Hadn't heard this yet - thanks Joe!
Avatar 2:16pm Marc Francis:

Goddamn Joe! There's stuff I should be doing but you keep playing one great song after the other...
Avatar 2:17pm Joe B:

The remasters are worth it for these 2 feelies albums - significant sonic upgrades for both Only Life and Time for a witness
Avatar 2:18pm Joe B:

thank Marc! or, sorry! whichever applies!
Avatar 2:20pm geezerette:

That was a sweet version of Sweet Jane and now you're playing a great Tom Waits.
I'm captivated like Marc Francis, love your show Joe!
Avatar 2:22pm Joe B:

Thanks!

ROB LIND

To be clear, The Sonics band did not cancel the tour. It took us by surprise, was done without consulting the five of us, and was shocking and very disappointing. In actuality, when we received the notification we were packing and preparing to fly to Philadelphia for rehearsals. We’re hoping that most of the shows on the tour can be rebooked and we can arrive and deliver the kind of show that can always be expected of us.

Avatar 2:46pm Joe B:

I always thought pretty things did it first but have never checked
  2:49pm John:

there are star wars fan edits on youtube, yet my screeching weasel club gig from 1993 that I just posted was muted on youtube. zoinks..
Avatar 2:50pm Joe B:

weird
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:50pm coelacanth:

just checked and you're correct. apologies to the pretty things.
  2:50pm KP:

All Music - "Midnight to Six Man" was the best original song recorded by the Pretty Things in the mid-'60s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm coelacanth:

i have an old 2lp comp and grew up thinking they penned everything, but later found that some were kinks songs and a few others - hence my doubt.
'sounds like it could've been a kinks song.
Avatar 2:57pm Joe B:

last week i did play the pretty things covering the kinks!
Avatar 2:59pm Cecile:

This. Is. Great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm coelacanth:
