Favoriting Bryce: Playlist from April 1, 2016 Favoriting

I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

This is great music to start the month ...

"Sex and Broadcasting" was written by Lorenzo Milam who started our beloved and long-gone freeform station, KRAB-fm. I started subscribing when its original studio was a former donut shop in North Seattle.

Speaking of work, I've finally got the hang of the whole "working from home" bit — work from someone else's home, as I'm doing right now. That way you don't have all your home distractions tempting you.

Cliff:

That's brilliant Gaylord
Avatar 2:17pm

I'm OK working one day a week from home. If I added more, I think I'd be one of those people at the library or the coffee shops.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm

i work from home 100%... wfmu is my distraction. i tried working from someone else's home, but they got really upset when they found me there... sheesh, some people.
Avatar 2:22pm
Cecile:

The writing teacher, Natalie Goldberg told a story of a woman who would write in her bank's vault. She'd go in and ask to see her security deposit box and then just park it at a table down there. No distractions.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm
Gaylord Fields:

@Cecile: I'm (sitting) on the sofa now!

@Chris: I suppose working from home is not a viable option if you work as a burglar.

"Whaddya talkin' bout, a break-in?! I'm just trying to get some work done here! In your house! So what if we don't know each other?"
Avatar 2:25pm

One semester when I had a lot of homework on vacation, I found a hotel room a perfect place to work. We had down time in the AM, so hubby would read and I'd work on class stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm
Gaylord Fields:

I'm also thinking of "work-cation" options, such as other cities. My company's Southern California HQ is temporarily located in the backlot of a major movie/television production studio.
Avatar 2:29pm
northguineahills:

@Wild Neil: I'm actually lamenting since I finally ran out of money, but the job itself is what I've always wanted to do. I've had a friend of my brother who's a recruiter who gave me resume templates that should pass through most company's auto-algorithms, so, I'm hoping this will work this time.

However, any advice is welcome. thanksss!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm

@ngh, don't want to sound snarky, but GIS should be useful when FL is under water.
Avatar 2:32pm
Cecile:

I think you and your partner have a lot of soul-searching to do. Long-distance is hard.
Avatar 2:32pm
northguineahills:

btw, the History of Germany podcast I've been listening to before bed, actually uses Faust as its theme music. Apropos I'd say.

In NYC all of the GIS jobs are mostly gov't, and the environmental impact studies on brown sites are also gov't. I've done 13 years of gov't jobs here, so, FL actually has more options in that regard.
  2:33pm
Cliff:

That was always my problem, I don't know the secret keywords or whatever to put on the resume to get it by the computer-assisted HR drones
Avatar 2:33pm

I think me not making money is the bigger problem. Our first year and half dating we were in different countries.

Marriage is a little different. Then again, neither one of us has been so in love with a job or town that one of us would want to stay back when the other one wanted to go.
