A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

trouble, you ever play early vetiver? when Devendra was in the band?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26am
Trouble:

yes bob devendra is on this record.; love that band/man (andy cabic)
  9:27am
Mark R.:

I find this music soothing and appropriate for this gloomy, Bummer Bob of a day.
Avatar 9:28am
bobdoesthings:

ah i thought devendra was only on the S/T record and then they had creative differences.. meh what do I know.
  9:29am
Mark R.:

Then just as I'm about to jump out the window, Linda Martell is all upbeat and pulls me in off the ledge.
Avatar 9:30am
bobdoesthings:

"bummer bob" I don't care for this expression.
  9:31am
Mark R.:

This comp. has been getting a lot of FMU love lately. I have to say I've liked everything I've heard off of it. It's a great concept, where soul meets country.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:32am
MD:

OH! The Answer to my Artist Question was right above my post!!! Duh! Still not awake!!!
  9:32am
Mark R.:

Sorry, Bob, I mean no offense. Bummer Bob was a member of the Manson family dubbed so by Charlie because he would occasionally decline to participate in Charlie's flea-bitten, acid-fueled orgies.
Avatar 9:34am
@sugarwolf@:

Bummer Bob did not do things then!!
  9:35am
Mark R.:

I think Bummer Bob did some things sometimes, but not all things at all times, as Charlie wished.
Avatar 9:36am
not a bummer -bobdoesthings:

I don't like any of this bummer stuff.
Avatar 9:37am
bobdoesthings:

ahh thanks trouble, did not know that about Vetiver.. I thought it was the same group the whole time. Huh. neat!
  9:40am
Mark R.:

Let's just forget the whole topic. I think we'd all agree (those of us in the Jersey City/NYC vicinity) that it is indeed a cloudy day. And probably most (if not all) of us would agree that Trouble is providing the perfect soundtrack for us this morning (as usual). In spite of the fact that she's operating from the primitive confines of Studio B, a veritable prehistoric cave of a studio.

Avatar 10:26am

One of my best record snags ever was Get Up With It for $7 with VG vinyl. And the shop was selling classic rock with heavy markups, too.
  10:26am
Mark R.:

This album came out in 1974, Bob--late '74.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27am
Guido from Cologne:

The double-LP is 1974 before his 5 year break.
But it is a compilation of recordings starting with 1970
Avatar 10:28am
bobdoesthings:

Thanks Guido/Mark R!
  10:34am
Mark R.:

This is really beautiful. I've been re-examining Miles's mid-70s work. It's not as freaky as I thought. Like all his music, I think he was just ahead of his time. Forty years later, I'm catching up.

i think there is a format for me to look at perhaps @ annie, but honestly the main goal here is no dead air, so i don't have a minute to look at much.

@Annie-I picture the WFMU studios looking like the War Room (as in Gentlmen there will be no fighgint in the War Room!) in Dr. Strangelove with all our vital signs, mood ring colors and bioryhtms prominently displayed along with an icon to represent our socio-political points of view.
