Favoriting Bryce: Playlist from February 12, 2016 Favoriting

I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

Lyle:

I played 4th Trombone with the Kim Suk Chul band for a brief stint in the early '60's. Turns out Kim was a huge Bobby Vee fan, and could often be found late at night wandering the halls of whatever hotel we were staying at (almost always a Holiday Inn) humming the melody to The Night Has A Thousand Eyes. When I pressed him as to why we had no arrangement for the number, Kim would always struggle and tell me that, as yet, he couldn't fathom the profundity of it. Something about that particular tune nearly drove him to madness. Those were interesting times never again to be repeated.

Asstro:

Why do we associate synthesizers with space? Why?
Avatar 2:25pm
sphere:

Asstro, I think that original synthesizers sounded so different from other instruments that people thought they were "unearthly" and "alien."
  2:26pm
Asstro:

Thanks for the plain-spoken explanation, sphere. A lot of people wouldn't have taken the time.

YOu, too, geezerette. Thanks for your two-cents worth. Most people would have let my question go unanswered. Look at how many here flatly ignored me. Even Bryce. Not you, though. Not you!

Probably because long ago, cave dwelling dudes doing some bodacious bong hits were listening to the opening synth of 2112 and looking at the album cover and made the observation, 'Oh wow man, that is some potent stuff'

The album title is presumably a Floyd reference? Last night I saw Ron Geesin (who co-composed the "Atom Heart Mother" suite) and Brian Hopper (ex-Soft Machine) play a wonderfully eclectic set together, including a little blast of the AHM closing theme, magnificent...

That's a Kimball Excalibur 55-E with Color-Glo keys. Built-in drum machine. A 1967. The year they replaced the Foxtrot setting on the drum machine with Teen.
