Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08am pacific standard simon:

  6:08am P-90:

Hey Frank. Howz bayou?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Bowie succeeded, I feel. That helps, but it's hard.
  6:10am P-90:

That Bowie thing didnt really happen?
Avatar 6:12am fxo:

good morning, alla yez, especially, pacific standard, P-90, RevRab
  6:14am V Priceless:

Hi Frank. Yeah, the DB news has me numb.
Avatar 6:15am fxo:

V Priceless: numb for the both of us.
  6:19am hawkeye:

I'm shocked about Bowie. Beyond
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19am pacific standard simon:

He done gone and left us all alone.
Avatar 6:22am duke:

Good morning fxo and all. Sad news about Bowie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23am pacific standard simon:

Well, The Slide Brothers sounded more like a Mick Ronson tribute.
  6:24am Cooh John:

Good morning fxo and momenteers. Good night Jean Genie. I am in a moon age dazedream.
  6:27am hawkeye:

His new video makes sense now
Avatar 6:28am fxo:

sad news, indeed.
Thanks hawkeye, Cooh John, and duke.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32am pacific standard simon:

The George Harrison version of "Sweet Marie" is worth seeking out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36am pacific standard simon:

This is bad ass.
  6:50am P-90:

He just turned 69 two days ago. So young. Isn't fair.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:52am pacific standard simon:

My mom's boyfriend gave us the Bee Gees 1st album somewhen around 1969. At the time, it seemed like the scene with the apes in 2001 A Space Odyssey: WTF?! Later, it seemed totally corny.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:58am pacific standard simon:

Lemmy just turned 70. In his case, life was probably more than fair.
  6:59am hawkeye:

Can you play a Bowie tune? Or something in his universes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:59am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Love the BeeGees '1st album' (which isn't their 1st??) in its' post-Revolver (even has cover art by Klaus Voormann) PsychPop glory. In fact - love the 1960s BGs generally - not least because they'd be on the radio then & it's deep deep in memory...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:03am Parq:

Somehow, the Golblum remix seems to fit Bowie's passing. Not sure why, just seems that way.
Avatar 7:05am monodons:

This Goldblum song is helping, a lot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:06am pacific standard simon:

The perfect Bowie thing to play here would be "Eight Line Poem".
  7:08am P-90:

@pss: And to be fair, there were years in the seventies when Bowie was notoriously living a fast track rock n roll lifestyle, and it would have been unsurprising at that point if his life had proven to be a great deal shorter than it ultimately did.
Also: Kinda creepy that the NY Times obit only refers to Angela when quoting Duncan Jones, "a son from a previous marriage..."
  7:19am bill:

yeah, ow
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19am pacific standard simon:

Cocaine is notoriously bad for the muscle known as the heart, so I would guess that cancer outran other causes in Bowie's demise.
Avatar 7:20am SmokinJ:

Mornin' Frank! 8-)
Avatar 7:22am fxo:

thanks SmokinJ, bill, monodons, and Parq. My thoughts are with you...
  7:26am bill:

waltzing with lemmy no doubt
  7:27am tinkle bear:

Thanks.
  7:34am tinkle bear:

er, just noticed fxo does the playlist in track/artist/etc order.
so i guess i'm curious about the moonlandingz, not especially the psych ersatz track.
no jokes/puns about fake moon landings, plz...
  7:35am tinkle bear:

cool, thanks, fxo.
morning morning.
Avatar 7:35am annie:

Avatar 7:40am annie:

RIP david Bowie? i thought it was all just more fete-ing of an icon.
Avatar 7:44am fxo:

yes, Annie. RIP, David Bowie.
Avatar 7:46am annie:

yeah, my news-feed server is full of the press releases.. i did turn ot off early.
Avatar 7:47am annie:

and the hype was the release of his new album..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49am Ken From Hyde Park:

I was listening to Therese's show last night. She led off with a couple DB songs to commemorate his recent birthday. About half-way through, it turned into a DB retrospective. Mark R's show that followed had three hours of DB. RIP
Avatar 7:51am annie:

... yep, AND his birthday... so, i'm not so far off the mark.
  8:00am bill:

this is a effin riot!
Avatar 8:12am fxo:

from Tony Visconti's post:
He always did what he wanted to do. And he wanted to do it his way and he wanted to do it the best way. His death was no different from his life - a work of Art. He made Blackstar for us, his parting gift. I knew for a year this was the way it would be. I wasn't, however, prepared for it. He was an extraordinary man, full of love and life. He will always be with us. For now, it is appropriate to cry.
  8:13am bill:

Tony Visconti, Producer?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36am mariano:

I switched from watching a movie on my computer to a tab with a newspaper carrying news of Bowie's death: it really was like a gut punch, I was not prepared to read that. First Lemmy, now Bowie. Keith Richards better hang on for the sake of humanity!
  8:38am P-90:

It's happening again: your show is rushing by too fast, Frank! Dammit.
  8:39am P-90:

@mariano: "gut punch" says it all
Avatar 8:39am fxo:

sorry, I'm not avoiding the news. Bowie's music will last forever. Lots of Bowie tunes around the media.
Avatar 8:45am fxo:

Bowie's at peace, ya know? Sad, but true...

thanks all for the kind comments.
