According to Faith, the renegade Slayer on Buffy and Angel, the five flavors of pain are loud, hot, cold, sharp and blunt. No, not that kind of blunt! One of the fun things about Switchboard Infinity is the creative and humerous use of many sci-fi tropes. The one at the end there was that most controversial of futuristic weapons, sonics. As deadly as sonic can be as a weapon, they can be neutralized by simply turning off the radio (or whatever is making the sound.)
