Polk Biggins:

75 Dollar Bill. Cool. Glad I clung to their 'Olives in the Ears' tape. Had to give it a second chance (almost sold/traded it), after reading an (Effing) Record Reviews post.

Polk Biggins:

Cool show Scott.

When are the tryouts for your football club?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53am
Scott McDowell:

No tryouts, everyone plays.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54am
Scott McDowell:

No tolerance policy for own goals and dirty tackles however.

frog wizard:

own goals get the escobar treatment? :(

Chris from DC:

Tom Carter, Ramleh, Drew Macdowall, Protomartyr, and Daniel Bachman would be at the top of my list.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:00am
Scott McDowell:

YES! Still have yet to hear the Protomartyr record, sadly.

Tomeka was 2015's big discovery for me. Saw her do a set with Douglas Ewart.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:33am
Scott McDowell:

wow that sounds cool, duo set?
  8:34am
Dan:

Great show Scott!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:40am
Andrew Waterloo:

@Scott, yah. I was just a few feet away from Tomeka as well. It was one of those sets where the thunder outside worked its way into the performance.

Yo La Tengo is sublime as usual. I was living on Clinton Street back in the early 90's and never went to see them at a local club because stupid me I thought they were a Salsa band. Duh!
  8:44am
Harry Hoboken:

Don't shoot me, but I seem to hear one YLT song per show lately . . .
Avatar 8:45am
Wild Neil:

I second that suggestion! All in favor say "aye".
Avatar 8:47am
Wild Neil:

Back in 1993 or so I heard the album Teenage Symphonies to God by Velvet Crush a lot on FMU on multiple programs....and I ended up buying it and loving it! THANK YOU FMU!
Avatar 8:49am
Wild Neil:

Maybe it was 1994 actually...a lot happened back then you know...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:50am
Scott McDowell:

I think it's kind of fascinating when certain things bubble up (Yo La Tengo maybe more obvious than most) considering different angles and how diverse the individual shows can be.
Avatar 8:53am
Marcel M:

@Wild Neil: Re: YLT as a salsa band haha. Thats great ;-)

Thanks, Scott. My one quibble: "The Epic" should have received at least an honorable mention. "See" you next week.
