Speaking of Xmas... I got a box of some kid's gifts from Amazon today. It was addressed to me but I didn't order it. I tried to figure out how to send it back to Amazon but because I didn't order it there's no order to reference as having been messed up. I'm trying to figure out whether to donate them or spend more time and energy figuring out how to return them.

rw:

Or were we talking about Easter?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00am
coelacanth:

hopefully whoever ordered it knows enough to act quickly and hold amazon responsible. maybe once amazon knows it didn't get to the proper destination they'll track it down to you. you can still donate it,since you're not accountable for it. that's your choice, since the purchaser also doesn't have to pay for it. the only one who loses is amazon- and fuck them! it's their fault, and they can afford it...and a surprise box of gifts might really help some unfortunate kids.
....(but maybe i'm missing something here,as i often do.)

@rw: Call Amazon right now here: 206-922-0880 and they will solve the problem.

rw:

CDToaster, thanks! I think I spent about a half hour today trying to find a phone # for them!
Avatar 2:17am
CDToaster:

@rw: Well, not you got the number and they're waiting for your call.
@rw: if you have an Amazon account, they most likely will be able to offer you a prepaid shipping label and you can hand the box to any UPS driver. Call the number and keep it handy for future reference. That number will take you to Amazon's problem resolution team open all the time. I have a lot of fun working with them as they always solve any complex problem I throw at them to my satisfaction. Good luck and it's very nice of you to do the right thing with someone else's merchandise.

@rw: please excuse my typo: I meant NOW you have the number....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24am
coelacanth:

yeah,i assumed you contacted them already and got no help.
Avatar 2:29am
CDToaster:

@coelacanth: No, contacting Amazon telephonically is a difficult and time consuming task designed to make the caller give up, but I didn't. It took hours to get it, but I'll never lose it. I call them all the time bewtween 1 and 4 a.m. and always get right through without waiting. I wouldn't suggest calling them at other times but between 1 and 5 they're slow and quick to pick up and help fix whatever's wrong.

CDToaster, I took your advice and called them immediately! Got through right away too. They weren't able to figure out what went wrong but they were very helpful. He couldn't find an order based on the FedEx tracking number but I can write "return to sender" on the box and take it to FedEx.

coelacanth:

that's good to know. i don't deal with them much any more, but my sister does. (although she generally has good luck with them.)
Thanks!

rw:

Thanks CDT for your help! One more thing crossed off the to do list. Plus that phone number is worth far more than the merchandise in the box I received!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53am
coelacanth:

that's good rw. obviously you wont pay shipping.
...i did like the idea of donating it to needier people! (-if the purchaser can't be identified anyway.)

i purchased a recorder from an ebay store and they sent 2 without knowing (or charging). when i contacted them to tell them to send a shipping label, since it was their mistake, they said i can keep it.
i guess it wasn't worth the administration costs for them to pick it up. your box of toys is much more valuable though.

rw:

coelacanth, based on the conversation with Amazon I feel like I may have that option. Mostly I wanted to make sure some kid didn't miss out on some gifts.

Hey! It's the closing theme! Thanks Jesse! Later kids!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:00am
coelacanth:

yes,rw, that's where i'm coming from too.

Thanks Jesse!
see y'all.
