enjoying! :)

rw:

Hey jj and everybody!

Enjoying here too! Trying to get some work done. Halloween weekend kind of threw me off track. Does anybody need a large bowl full of candy?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09am
coelacanth:

i'm good. show's been lovely

good to hear a Curtis song i'd never heard
...and ALWAYS good to hear the elevators!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11am
coelacanth:

hey rw!
i'll take some kitkats or dark chocolate milkyways if you got em!
-how'd the hulk costume work out?
  1:13am
JakeGould:

I’m doing fine but honestly… This whole daylight standard time and the sun setting before 5:00pm is bumming me out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17am
coelacanth:

Jake weren't you looking forward to it -for the sunny morning commute?
i thought that was you but maybe i'm mistaken.
  1:17am
rw:

hey coelacanth, Sorry, I think the kitkats are all gone. No dark chocolate milkyways either.

I won best costume! Partly because there wasn't much serious competition but mostly I think because the hostess was taken with the skin tight muscle-yness of the thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20am
coelacanth:

Haha! That's Awesome- competition or no competition!
  1:21am
rw:

Oh, and I didn't end up going with the cucumber... there were young teenagers there and I wasn't sure it would be so appropriate. The cucumber was actually supposed to be a way to disguise the... uh... male version of camel toe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23am
coelacanth:

hahaha!

...and good call...i guess?
  1:24am
rw:

I wish I had a good photo. The feet came to just below my knees, so my legs extended through the bottom of the feet a ways.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26am
coelacanth:

that sound ridiculous!
...brilliantly ridiculous!
  1:27am
JakeGould:

@coelacanth: I’m not commuting yet.
  1:27am
rw:

Thanks, man. It was fun. Hope you had a good one too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32am
coelacanth:

i almost stayed home (which is my m.o. now) -but i went out around midnight and had a great time. 'saw a good band;saw some old friends; forgot that i'm a lightweight drinker now... felt like shit all day sunday!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35am
coelacanth:

hey does anyone know if i can burn images to a cd-r that are readable on both mac & other? (preferably using "simplyburns",which is my burner of choice)
...Jake?
  1:35am
rw:

Ha! Perfect! Glad to hear it! Well... except for the hangover part. But sometimes it's kind of nice to have an excuse to do nothing all day Sunday.
  1:36am
rw:

I think the platforms are pretty compatible now as far as that stuff is concerned. It's been a while since I've done it though so I'm not positive.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37am
coelacanth:

i guess, but i can do nothing all day without feeling shitty! (or ashamed!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38am
coelacanth:

i guess i'll just burn one and see. ...30¢ cd, what the hell.
  1:39am
rw:

Not me. I envy you. I tend to feel shitty and ashamed regardless though... maybe I should give it a try.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43am
coelacanth:

yeah, maybe it's not totally true. i do beat myself a little when i don't get a lot done in a day.
-but not nearly as much as when i'm hungover and get NOTHING done...and miss a sunny day.
(i guess in southern ca the sunny day anxiety doesn't exist!)
  1:52am
rw:

When I was a kid I remember hating the feeling of going to the movies in the afternoon and exiting the theater after dark. It felt like a (sunny) day wasted.
  1:59am
JakeGould:

@coelacanth: Nope. No clue. But I do believe what RW says is right: Both platforms can at least read each other’s main formats (Windows NTFS and Mac OS Extended). Also when in doubt, CDs are cheap so just burn two CDs with the same contents but in different formats and say, “Hey! Here! Try this!”
  1:59am
rw:

Hey Jesse, I just looked up that Vertigo record. It's brand spanking new! That was all The Necks, right? No Frow Show overdubbing?
  2:00am
JakeGould:

@rw: Yeah, I feel that. Part of the reason early matinees are so great. You get a movie AND a day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01am
jj.:

there was some frow weirdness at the beginning & the end, but--yeah--that was pretty much straight necks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01am
coelacanth:

damnnn -the necks always come through!

that's funny rw -in my whole childhood i probably entered a movie theatre just a few times; but i recall my mom kicking us out of the house on sunny days.
...i guess i didn't appreciate a beautiful day 'till i was older.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08am
coelacanth:

Thanks Jake (& rw before)
i just burned one. there're 4 different settings and one is "ISO9660+Joliet and HSF+ (hybrid)";
2 are each 1/2 of that;
the last is "DVD-ROM" ...i tried the first one.
i'll try it in a "pc" tomorrow.
  2:14am
rw:

I've started buying cheap flash drives to transfer files. Usually they come back when you loan them out, but if they don't it's not a big loss and they seem to work on Mac and PC both. Actually I do a LOT of file transfer, but mostly through uploading to web and then emailing the link.
  2:20am
rw:

So that new Necks record... it's available on CD or LP. I've been buying mostly LPs these days but it's one long track. Trying to decide if the CD might be better. Maybe I'll sleep on it. Decision making is not one of my strengths. Especially at this hour.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24am
coelacanth:

i used to be able to transfer files from my macbook to my old windows xp,which i kept primarily as a file backup, but now the "pc" can't find the mac for some reason.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29am
coelacanth:

i always prefer vinyl if a have that luxery- EXCEPT in cases like the necks,or Cecil Taylor's long pieces. (etc)... it was composed to be heard in one uninterrupted session.
(but of course vinyl does sound great.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31am
jj.:

when listening before, i was wondering where the side-break came. there seemed to be a somewhat logical point for it around the halfway point, during a quiet interlude.
  2:32am
rw:

Hmmm... good to know. Thanks. The LP does come with a digital download too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35am
coelacanth:

i'm sure it's done nicely.
that track might not be disrupted so badly.
...the silver water album i would hate to have interrupted at any point.
-but maybe that's because usually i put it on when i turn off the lights to sleep.
Avatar 2:42am
ausmanx:

i think because The Necks stuff is all improvised, they'd probably be pretty happy with the listener deciding how long they wanted to listen anyway, so an interruption is okay... but i'd find it frustrating to have to turn the record over if i wanted to listen to the whole thing!
  2:52am
rw:

coelacanth, you can also use Dropbox to share files between computers. I've been doing that recently instead of transferring via flash drive.

ausmanx, Thanks. I was leaning toward LP, but now I'm vacillating again!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57am
coelacanth:

Thanks Jesse!
ciao y'all.
Thanks rw!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58am
coelacanth:

(i don't know what dropbox is,but i'll find out!)
