  12:28pm Figure of Light:

Have you guys heard about the new Terry Ork records collection, from his small mini label in the 1970s? I knew Terry, and he was a great guy, and this collection of all the stuff recorded for his label, most of it unreleased, is incredible. As the liner notes say, "Where in the mythos of punk is there room for a frizzy-haired cinephile San Diegan? How could the defining rock attitude and look of the late 1970s get brainstormed by two go-nowheres from a boarding school in Hockessin, Delaware - a D student and kid voted Most Unknown by his senior class? Forget the worn-out yarns about London gobbers and safety-pin piercings - the true story of the birth of punk rock on 45 is the story of Ork Records, captured by Numero Group on four hefty LPs (or two shiny compact discs) and told across 120 (184 for the CD) high-gloss pages filled with insider photos and sordid details. It is a story populated by iconic names like Television, Alex Chilton, Lester Bangs, Richard Hell, the Feelies, Patti Smith, Talking Heads, Brian Eno, Blondie and the Ramones. And it’s a tale told from the hallowed grounds of CBGB, Max’s Kansas City, and Ardent Studios. It all began with Terry Ork, a Jewish SoCal film nerd enthralled by Andy Warhol’s posse as they made a transgressive surfing flick, who moved cross-country to manage a movie memorabilia shop on the grubby streets of the Lower East Side. Made in the shadow of disco and dereliction in late-‘70s Manhattan, Ork Records: New York, New York is not just the genesis of punk, it is the birth of the New York City scene and indie culture as we know it." So check it out -- no personal connection to it, other than it's really great!
  12:30pm OOk:

  2:27pm P-90:

LOVE the guitar tone on this!
Avatar 👻 2:35pm David Shortell:

It was good to see Link draw a crowd at Asbury Lanes, unlike his two previous NJ shows.
Most of the seats at Club Bene were empty. At the Saint, I lounged in a chair resting my feet on the stage, watching him play with no obstruction!
Avatar 2:42pm Joe B:

wish i saw that Saint show!
  2:48pm P-90:

I think I was at both of the last two shows Link did in Manhattan. At one of them, E Street Band bassist Gary Tallent jumped onstage as a guest and played most of the second set with Link. Hell of a show, Link's personality in full flower, glad I was there.
  2:49pm Jeff Conklin:

Sounding great today, Joe
  2:50pm Echo:

Sounding great today, Joe
Avatar 2:54pm Joe B:

thanks Jeff!

P-90, sounds cool, wish I had seen that one. where was it at?

Stellar show today, Joe, thanks!
Avatar 2:56pm V Priceless:

thanks Joe! great show!
Avatar 2:57pm Joe B:

thanks everyone! been a blast!
Avatar 6:37pm Joe B:

This just in: Scott Cornish confirms my theory on the Knyghts of Fuzz cut 'Genny'! From Scott - Hey Joe (haw), wonder no longer about "Genny" by Knyghts Of Fuzz. It is most definitely about Genessee Cream Ale, the upstate NY budget beer of choice for the Knyghts and many others! Great to hear that ode to local (but not lo-cal) suds on your show! Thanks, pal.
