Oops, sorry to hear about the technical difficulties...DO does go all sorts of places, but when I heard bluegrass and folk coming through the speaker, I already suspected there was a problem.
My beloved old 'flowerpot' Mac stopped recently - but I lucked out & my savvy friend popped the hard drive into an even better version of same - & all well. I have the external hard drive storage - & must learn to backup (it's supposed to be simple yeah?)...
@RRN63: the keys to backups:
- try to read whatever you saved, soon but not right away
- never trust "time machine" magic crap, just copy files
- do it regularly (not once a decade)
- do what I say, not what I do
Made a batch of shoshido peppers the wife got from Trader Joes. Usually they're bland. This time, 80% of them are almost Habanero hot. Really inconsistent. It's a good way to stay awake in the morning if not ingesting caffeine.
Hey all! Now that we've undone the damage of the shower, time to remind everyone that we're at the end of WFMU'S silent marathon. This show is only $100 away from meeting our goal. Any and all pledges are HUGELY APPRECIATED!
Hey @doctorjazz - Max did a series of encounters with adventurous musicians, including several albums with Archie Shepp. They all work surprisingly well. Max and Cecil revisited their duo 20 years later and it was also fantastic.
Hey @grouper - I think this is back in print. The whole thing is wonderful. Max and Brax did a sequel too which is also excellent, though one long piece as opposed to these fab compositions.
Thanks all! amazon still hasn't figured out that file storage is cheap now and there's a market for flak files. -i'll listen to mp3s for certain things, but not Braxton or/& Roach. maybe next year i'll be able to afford the cd. ($15.w/shipping)
WOO HOO!
..and people (monsters,ghosts,what have you)- if you do donate (credit of which can be divided between different djs) i can and do highly recommend D.O.'s premium cds,including the current one which is covers of Monk tunes.
@grouper, I'm with you on the MP3/FLAC thing, don't get why Amazon doesn't make uncompressed FLAC available, shouldn't be a big deal, and I'd probably buy downloads there. But, I'm not the one to go by, I ordered the Roach/Braxton on vinyl...
doctorjazz, i envy you. that's out of the question right now; but i wish i could trade-in all the records i bought that i'll never listen to again for 1/3 the quantity of new ones.
@grouper, it's easy, need priorities. Vinyl, kids college fund, vinyl, kids college fund, gotta go for the vinyl. They'll thank me one day for having it all to listen to!
Speaking of great shows...!

I blame a change in ritual. Actually took a shower before today's show, which I rarely do. Stupid cleanliness.
