And hello Flash Strap and Mr Uncle!
  9:21am Jeff g.:

Thanks again! I'm assuming I shouldn't lead with "I'll need Wednesdays from 9-noon and Mondays noon-1 as personal time"...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22am Uncle Michael:

I would!
  9:22am Jeff g.:

@UM! Looking forward to seven great Mets/Cubs games!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23am Uncle Michael:

I'm not sure I share that sentiment. I have no problem with the Cubs maintaining the same winning percentage relative to the Mets as during the regular season.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23am Doug Schulkind:

Maybe not lead with it, but... You may never get want you want if you don't ask for it. I remember negotiating Fridays Off with my last job — and got it! (Sadly, I can't remember my last job.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24am Uncle Michael:

I'm pretty sure I'm in my last job.
  9:25am Jeff g.:

@UM: yeah that. Well, at least four good games, at any rate.
  9:26am Jeff g.:

Why can't this be a job?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27am Doug Schulkind:

In 1988, the Mets had beaten in the Dodgers 11 out of 12 games during the regular season. In the NLCS, not so much.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28am Doug Schulkind:

@Jeff G
Why can't this be a job. That makes me wanna cry.

OUTSTANDING first set!

Tech tip: our greatest recent purchase was a Bluetooth splash-proof speaker, hangs off of the shower head. OMAKER brand thing.

More mud ice to shave to, please, maestro. (Music, I mean; just had to leave that autocorrect in place.)

Hear is my bathroom music system: www.sangean.com...

Bathroom and everywhere else. I never go anywhere without it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41am Doug Schulkind:

Last night during the later innings of the Mets game, we had three of those transistor radio going simultaneously in our house. My daughter had one under the covers; Jessie fell asleep with one by her bedside and I had mine blaring while doing my radio show prep. It was a good night.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42am Uncle Michael:

I put my tablet in a waterproof pouch in the shower and hang it from the couch, since I don't just want to hear music in there...I want to select and "favorite" music in there. It's synced with the ceiling speakers in the bathroom and bedroom (and anywhere else in the house, should I choose).

It's Kenny Albert who makes me want to heave a paving stone at the set. Or just heave.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47am Uncle Michael:

I use LMS to stream everywhere...my phone in my car or out in the yard, my computer at work...my tablet when I travel. I have a great bluetooth speaker for the phone or tablet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47am Uncle Michael:

Kenny's just bad. Buck is insufferable.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:48am Doug Schulkind:

I don't have a teevee. Just baseball on the radio for me. I still can't believe ESPN canned Jon Miller. He was/is brilliant.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:48am Webhamster Henry:

You're welcome! Also: I'm pledging for the playlist comment club, a friendly bunch of radio fans and not anger filled inarticulates.

It's Albert's voice. The bafflegab itself I can filter out.
@Doug: I only hear them at my dad's or maybe a Superb Owl party; no TV here since a storm blew the aerial off the building before the digital switch.
Avatar 9:50am annie:

UM, what is this LMS of which you speak?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 9:50am Artie Haywire:

@UM: Same here. The hardware players, plus iPeng on the portables. So many nights I just sit and DJ from the couch.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:51am Doug Schulkind:

WOO HOO. Up to 17% thanks to HOLLAND OATS, who sowed a wylde pledge just now. Thanks holland oats!
Avatar 9:52am Flash Strap:

YES i love this track
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54am Uncle Michael:

LMS is Logitech Media Server...the back end behind Squeezebox. It's free and requires no hardware since there are apps and virtual players for computers that can utilize it. The Squeezebox hardware is just gravy.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 9:54am Artie Haywire:

@Annie: Logitech Media Server. It's the server bit that make Squeezeboxes go. Internet radio + online music services + your own digital library + tablet/phone interface to control it all (and listen). Open source and pretty cheap to spin up. Hardware players are discontinued, but you can make your own or re-purpose old phones and tablets.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:56am Uncle Michael:

All the old hardware is available used on eBay...for the most part. We have a Touch and Duet and a Squeezebox Radio. Via bluetooth in the cars, it's my car radio. I'm using android so my app of choice is one called Orange Squeeze.
Avatar 9:56am annie:

thanks for the info!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59am Doug Schulkind:

Imma get out my Greek dictionary and decipher those comments.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:00am Artie Haywire:

Imma drive out to Pittsburgh and wire up the Schulkind household for LMS.
Avatar 10:01am annie:

doug, i'm in that same boat... after much searching i usually jump into the technology... 5 years later..i'm slow like that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03am Doug Schulkind:

That's why I just carry around a transistor radio, annie. I programmed all the pre-set stations. And am right proud of myself for doing so.

@Artie Haywire
I am rolling out the red carpet for you. (Careful, in Pittsburgh, we put french fries and coleslaw in our red carpets.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03am Uncle Michael:

You get Give the Drummer Radio on that thing?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04am Doug Schulkind:

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT ANDY W FROM PHILLY. He pledged, you see. THANKS ANDY W FROM PHILLY!
  10:04am Jeff g.:

Always love the elevated tech talk. Still grooving on jriver (in lieu iTunes) due to comments hereabouts.

Have successfully stanched the bleeding. I used a couch cushion.

Buck is the worst. I don't even know anything about him; I just know I don't like him.
Avatar 10:09am annie:

i'm so out of date i still use the ipod touch..and a stereo system to play from speakers!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10am Doug Schulkind:

Jeff G and Uncle Michael. You guys need to tie me down and do a JRiver intervention.
Avatar 10:10am Flash Strap:

yeah i just jack my laptop into my receiver and play it on the big speakers. Or I suffer the laptops tinfoil fidelity from bed/the kitchen
Avatar 10:11am Flash Strap:

yikes I'm curious about this "colony mambo". sounds rich
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:12am doctorjazz:

Have the Logitech Squeezebox Touch attached to the stereo system but haven't expanded to using the app elsewhere, stream from the computer and internet radio. I thought it was no longer supported, have to check out what has happened since it is open source. Thanks for the info, UM.
I also like JRiver for my PC, can get a free version of it as JRiver, also as Ponoplayer, which is a slightly modified JRiver.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15am Doug Schulkind:

@Flash Strap
I was going to play Colony Mambo up until 30 minutes before the show when I decided to switch. Monticello Mambo is raunchier and rougher. Colony is more refined and cool. Both are stupendous.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15am Uncle Michael:

I don't plug the laptop into the stereo. I send audio from the laptop to the stereo wirelessly.

Doctor J, The only thing you need to do to access LMS away from home is to forward the appropriate ports on your router.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17am Webhamster Henry:

At home, my first generation iPhone is plugged into the stereo system to be my household internet radio and drone machine. Too bad I can't plug it into the Victrola.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17am Doug Schulkind:

Welcome aboard, doctorjazz! Time to scrub and here's your scalpel!
Avatar 10:18am Flash Strap:

Can't even see/hear wirelessness from my mud-hut location outside Greater Techville, lifestyle-wise.
Main stereo -- as discussed in audio nostalgia moments here before -- is a Pioneer SX-434 purchased about 1975. Kitchen has two portables -- one a 70s-type junk shop purchase, the other a radio/cassette that still has a big white "$1.00" marked on white tape from a thrift store, positioned on the floor for reception of a particular AM(!) station.

Any New York area peoples going to have a li'l architectural snooparound during Open House New York this weekend? I would if I was thar.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25am Doug Schulkind:

We're at 20% now. It would be an excellent thing to get to 50% by the end of the show. To accomplish, we need just $800 more pledge in the next 90 minutes. Make it happen!
