evening Doug and everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00pm Doug Schulkind:

Greetings, ndbob!
Avatar 6:01pm Peter Nelson:

Ran a bit over there. Sorry...a bit thrown by technical failure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04pm Doug Schulkind:

Failure is no excuse, Peter. It is an aesthetic!
Avatar 6:05pm Sarah N:

I reckon I could probably listen to you talk for 3 hours. You do it so well. Lovely radio manner.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09pm Doug Schulkind:

I went to school to learn LRM, Sarah. I'll be paying student loans well into the next century!
Avatar 6:11pm Peter Nelson:

Your experience shows.
Avatar 6:12pm Sarah N:

Money well spent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13pm Charlie:

Shorty's at bat!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm Doug Schulkind:

The batter shown in the photo was an actual Major League ballplayer — for one at bat. His uniform number was 1/8 !!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm Charlie:

Pint size!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm Mike East:

I bet he walked a lot...his strike zone's gotta be like 6 square inches!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:18pm Doug Schulkind:

He did indeed walk, Mike East. That was the whole point. It was a stunt by St. Louis Brown' owner Bill Veeck. Gaedel walked on four pitches and that was his entire career.
Avatar 6:19pm ndbob:

yep eddie gaedel
Avatar 6:20pm Sarah N:

It's one of those "cake-eating-dwarves", we have them here too. What do you call them?....children....that's it.
Avatar 6:23pm Sarah N:

Now I feel foolish for not reading the previous, because of course it's not a child in the photo. Doh! Apologies.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:25pm Doug Schulkind:

You'd have no way of knowing, Sarah N!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm Parq:

"Cut Across Shorty" make the short list?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:28pm Doug Schulkind:

A variation did, Parq.
Avatar 6:28pm Sarah N:

Thanks Doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm Doug Schulkind:

I love how the catcher is all the way down on his knees in the photo. The pitch would probably have been a strike to a normal-height batter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34pm Doug Schulkind:

Really badly need your pledges now. Help my ego GROW in stature while WFMU's coffers grow toward solvency. Pledge here: www.wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm Parq:

"I know Daddy sells things at his job," he remarked with consternation, "but why oh why did he say he would SELL MY SHORTS!?"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37pm Doug Schulkind:

Buy long and sell shorts, Parq!
Avatar 6:39pm Peter Nelson:

Loving this show Doug.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:40pm Doug Schulkind:

GIVE THE DRUMMER RADIO PROGRAMMING ALERT...
Long Tall Jesse Kaminsky is up next here on the Drummer Stream with another episode of Kaminsky Kamoutsky. The theme for today's show: Size Doesn't Matter! (No not really.)

Playlist page here: wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm Doug Schulkind:

@Peter Nelson
Any stupid excuse to play cool records!
Avatar 6:43pm Jesse K:

I'm long on songs, short on themes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:45pm Doug Schulkind:

Or thongs (if you have a cold).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm Parq:

Faces should totally have recorded this one instead.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48pm Doug Schulkind:

Guess they were shortsighted, Parq.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm Doug Schulkind:

This program proves definitively that it is impossible to do a non-novelty "Shorty" song. Literally impossible.
Avatar 6:50pm ndbob:

right Doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51pm Doug Schulkind:

And I'm totally okay with that!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm Doug Schulkind:

Just got bumped off the stream there. First time in many months.
Avatar 6:56pm ndbob:

yep - didn't know if it was me or not
Avatar 6:56pm ndbob:

excellent show Doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm Doug Schulkind:

#pleasepledgeallyoushortiesandnotshorties!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:58pm Doug Schulkind:

This program: Long on execution; short on concept. Very short.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:03pm Gary:

I just missed this ... I need to come back tomorrow morning and listen
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:45pm Charlie:

This show was too short.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:50pm Doug Schulkind:

I like to leave them longing for more, Charlie.
