Shhhh....it's quiet in here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30am Charlie:

two hours in the anechoic chamber...
Avatar 11:36am Peter Nelson:

I had to look up that word. Sounds good, though. I'll take it. Do I need special equipment?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45am Charlie:

Well, Admiral, I'm sure you can have one constructed for you.
Avatar 11:51am Peter Nelson:

No relation. Interesting man, though. You've got to admire a man with a column that big.
Avatar 11:57am Michael:

Hiya Charlie. And Peter. And all who will wander in shortly.
Avatar 11:57am Sarah N:

Boo!
Avatar 11:58am Sarah N:

Michael from Rockport!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00pm Uncle Michael:

Am I blue?
Avatar 12:00pm Michael:

Ha! That's right. You guys were there a couple of weeks ago, right?
Avatar 12:00pm Peter Nelson:

Good name for a pub...The Wonder Inn.
Avatar 12:03pm Sarah N:

@Michael - Yes, we stayed in the Yankee Clipper Inn. Great views. What a pretty town.
Avatar 12:04pm Peter Nelson:

Hi Uncle M.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm Charlie:

Hi Peter, Michael, Sarah, Uncle Michael.
Avatar 12:05pm bobdoesthings:

good afternoon!
Avatar 12:05pm Sarah N:

Hello Charlie, Michael, Uncle Michael, Bob and him indoors!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm Charlie:

I thought that was an amazing coincidence that Peter and Sarah were in Rockport a few weeks ago, and Michael, who lives there, was in New Mexico! And both tuned in to the show. Didn't pick that up until I read comments after the show.
Avatar 12:05pm bobdoesthings:

I think I missed doing nothing past week or two.. feels like forever!
Avatar 12:06pm Michael:

Yes Sarah, a charming New England town for sure.
Avatar 12:06pm Sarah N:

Yeah Charlie. Perhaps we should all swap towns each week!
Avatar 12:07pm Peter Nelson:

Charming town, but not great for veggie food. Went a bit hungry.
  12:07pm Listening Out There:

It's BuDoNo time. I'm late...
Avatar 12:07pm Michael:

I was equally amazed at them being in our sleepy town.
Avatar 12:08pm Michael:

The town is not a culinary destination for sure. And believe it or not, it was a "dry" town until quite recently. There are still a few left in Massachusetts.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm Charlie:

Hi Listening Out There.
And welcome back to the BuDoNO, bobdoesthings!
Avatar 12:10pm bobdoesthings:

:)
Avatar 12:10pm Sarah N:

@Michael - sadly The Brothers Brew Coffee Shop was closed for a few days so we didn't get to try their doughnuts.
Avatar 12:12pm Peter Nelson:

A 'dry' town? How quaint. That might explain why the hotel room contained a champaigne bucket but they didn't have a bar.
Avatar 12:14pm bobdoesthings:

gotta love that jug player huh..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm Parq:

Have only made day trips to Rockport. Great place to take pictures. My kid's second serious boyfriend was from nearby Gloucester.
Avatar 12:16pm mauri:

uu this sounds good. houdi.
Avatar 12:18pm Sarah N:

This is a groovy track Charlie.
  12:19pm Gary Mitchell:

fukuokan great
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Charlie:

Hi Parq, Mauri, Gary!
Avatar 12:21pm Michael:

I've lived in Rockport about 12 years and still not quite up on the quirks the small town. Quite the alien place coming from years of city living. The spousal unit paints and she appreciates the light very much. I just wish they had a liquor store and some good restaurants. But as Parq notes - Gloucester is nearby.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm Charlie:

Sarah: It's groovy 'cause I stole it from Peter :)
Avatar 12:25pm mauri:

just watched a movie called the assasination classroom. some japanese emotions there.
Avatar 12:26pm Sarah N:

@Michael, I did notice the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Took some fine photos.

Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 12:32pm doctorjazz:

Hi, great sounds of nothingness drifting into the abyss.
Avatar 12:32pm Mister Dobalina:

Awesome track!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Parq:

Michael, from what my kid's old beau used to tell me, Gloucester is not what you would call a swingin' town, but I'm glad it served your purposes.
Avatar 12:35pm Sarah N:

Is blue language required in the blue room...?? @**fkcc**$$£@@
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm Charlie:

hello, doctorjazz and Mister Dobalina.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm Charlie:

fyi, Jake McKelvie will play a solo set live on my show on October 8!
Avatar 12:37pm Peter Nelson:

We got a bit lost in Gloucester....one way systems. Went to a terrible Mexican restaurant which claimed to be 'authentic' but admitted they toned down the spices for tourists.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm Charlie:

Sarah: updating this song with some blue language ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm Parq:

"You don't do shit, now"?
Avatar 12:40pm Sarah N:

I hear you Charlie! ;) Here's some more for you - turquoise, cyan, azure, viridian, indigo, cobalt, navy...!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm Charlie:

I love cobalt! Also the blue of airport landing strip lights at night.
Avatar 12:42pm Peter Nelson:

Arrogant, wife-abandoning sod that he is, Mr Young still grabs me.
Avatar 12:42pm Michael:

Parq, Gloucester is sometimes known as America's Oldest Seaport whatever that means. There are a handful of good places to eat and drink. The rest cater to tourists or the fishermen/women. Definitely not rocking though.
  12:43pm jan:

Hearing you loud and clear in Amagansett, L.I. till we pack up and go home!
Avatar 12:43pm bobdoesthings:

@sarah... cerulean!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm Parq:

I remember buying my copy of Harvest. I paid the going "sale" rate at the time, $3.49. That seems impossibly long ago.
  12:46pm doyle:

my family had 5 records when i was growing up. harvest was one. the others were herb alpert and a couple from the mornon tabernacles....
Avatar 12:48pm Peter Nelson:

Hi there Charlie. I've never been to Rockport.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm Parq:

Tried to look up the original author of "Blues for Dixie" (I'm a fan of the well-known Lyle Lovett/Asleep at the Wheel version) on Wikipedia. They don't have a page for the song, but I feel moved to mention that the home-page auto suggested a page for "Blues for Dracula".
Avatar 1:04pm Sarah N:

@bob - that's some groovy blueness!
@all - yeah, we both sat in the DJ's chair! What a treat.
Avatar 1:05pm Peter Nelson:

& Charlie made us a tasty Mexicanish breakfast. Your hospitality was much appreciated.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm Charlie:

found on a youtube video: Blues for Dixie" was written around about 1947 by Cindy Walker. Cindy Walker gave authorship of Blues for Dixie, as a gift, to her friend O. W. Mayo, who was Bob Wills's manager. [ THE HISTORY OF TEXAS MUSIC by Gary Hartman; pg.184 ]
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm Webhamster Henry:

Back when I was doing video art, my partner and I decided that blue was the best phosphor, so we tried to use it as much as possible.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 1:09pm doctorjazz:

Someone covering Pee Wee, cool!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm Charlie:

Yes, Peter took a break from his show so he could come over for breakfast ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm Charlie:

Pee Wee Russell, yes!

Avatar 1:22pm bobdoesthings:

this is fantastic... I'm guessing from Mali area..?
  1:23pm b may:

so good always and thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm Parq:

It turns out that "Blues for Dracula" is the first Philly Jo Jones album. Too bad Charlie doesn't have the title track from that one handy. Or am I just assuming?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm Charlie:

hi b(rian)! glad to see you.
Yes, bobdoes, from Mauritania, just west of Mali, and sounding very Malian.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm schmutz:

sneaking in between meetings! great show (as always) Charlie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm Charlie:

I do not, Parq, but that would be cool. Drac deserves blues.
Avatar 1:25pm Peter Nelson:

Today's blue images are most tranquil.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 1:27pm doctorjazz:

WE're all invited for breakfast at Charlie's...
Avatar 1:27pm bobdoesthings:

@charlie -- ahh cool.. so much great music from both countries.. I think Noura Mint Seymali is mauritanian too.. heard her before? DJ Trouble played some gems.. chekc her if you havent before..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm Charlie:

Peter -- all images are from installations by James Turrell (link at top of playlist)
Avatar 1:31pm Peter Nelson:

Apropos of nothing, I just found this pretty funny parody of the famous 'Whipped Cream' LP cover:www.gotmedieval.com...
  1:38pm Listening Out There:

Ah. Les Baxter. Thought it might have been Acker Bilk.
  1:39pm Listening Out There:

Pet Sounds is one of the Wrecking Crew's finer moments, IMHO...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm Charlie:

Funny pic, but it makes no sense that the monk is covered in whipped cream!
Avatar 1:41pm Peter Nelson:

Well, monking isn't really supposed to make sense.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Parq:

Peter N, that's hilarious. Thanks for posting. On a sad parenthetical note, this 2009 piece talks about finding album art for iPod tracks. The family and I were just talking about iTunes last night, and I remarked ruefully how each new version eliminates some feature that I thought made it fun to use. Jerks.
Avatar 1:43pm Peter Nelson:

itunes sucks. There are alternatives.
  1:43pm Gary Mitchell:

ripples... positive ripples
Avatar 1:44pm mauri:

In finland you can buy creamdonuts and we call those munkkis which is the same as a monk so it works in finnish...kermamunkki, creammonk.
Avatar 1:49pm northguineahills:

Ah, I saw that "sky" environmental piece. All I remember is that is was really frickin' cold that day, so, we didn't stay too long.
Avatar 1:51pm bobdoesthings:

whoa... instant love for these tahitians..
Avatar 1:51pm Peter Nelson:

Ahhhh...the pacific islands...my spiritual home.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm Charlie:

thank you mauri for making the monk - whipped cream connection. i don't think i would have slept tonight otherwise.
Avatar 1:53pm northguineahills:

@Peter: Around 2005, there was a group exhibition where the building block for each piece were LP albums, hence the name, "the LP show". Some artists used LPs as a pixels to make large pictures, while Christian Marclay used 'Whipped Cream & other delights", and all of the other copies and parodies of the album cover in a giant mozaic. There must have been 60 different albums that used that theme, and he had hundreds.
Avatar 1:54pm Peter Nelson:

I would like to have seen that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm Matt F:

Hey Charlie! 1) I am really digging this tahitian music and B) I had "Walking on the Water" pulled too but decided (before you played it) not to play it today. I think that covers everything...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm Charlie:

Peter - I got that Tahitian track from your collection :)
Avatar 1:55pm Peter Nelson:

I'm sure many of us regret the passing of the LP cover art form. @ Charlie...yep, got that. Rare stuff.
Avatar 1:58pm bobdoesthings:

whoa.. time is flying - THANKS CHARLIE! great show as always
Avatar 1:58pm Peter Nelson:

And I'm sure many of us regret the passing of this creamy show.
Avatar 1:59pm northguineahills:

Thanks Charlie!
