Hey Matt -- I'm working remotely today, so I'm happy to be listening live and loud!

I'm feeling a bit under the weather, and this show is the cure for what ails me!

@V: Wheels on are fire. Music will save us.
Hey Mike and Gaylord!

@MattBelow: Aw, Carl was 18 when he sang "Girl Don't Tell Me," so it isn't that weird. Nonetheless, Brian's lyrics are pretty juvenile — which just adds to the song's greatness.

Hey Matt & everybody!

@Gaylord: I guess it all make sense with the whole piano in the sandbox thing. I always forget Carl was so young, cause God Only Knows has so much wisdom in his delivery.

Hey Greg!

Carl was by far the most mature member, even when he was the group's 15-year-old lead guitarist.

Mike Sin:

Weird. I was born and raised in the US and first bought all the US LPs by all the British bands -- that's the first place I hear all these tracks. Strangely, once I got a hold of all the British versions of the LPs, they just ingrained themselves in my consciousness...

This is just a long way of saying I associate "Please Go Home" with the "Between the Buttons" LP.

"Jeez he's just so long-winded."

@Mike: I never listen to Flowers but I had my brother's car and that CD was in the player and I really enjoyed the selection. Strange comp.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm
Gaylord Fields:

@Mike Sin: Same here, but it's curious how quickly I accepted the UK versions of the Beatles and Stones LPs as canon once I got them. Perhaps it's because the sequencing makes so much sense.

I had those brown Parlophone Beatle tapes and that really confused me when I finally got the CDs
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm
Gaylord Fields:

There's a great pic online of Gants frontman Sid Herring standing next to Peter Noone circa 1965-66, and the resemblance is rather uncanny! They really could have been brothers.

Mike Sin:

@Gaylord: That's definitely the case of the Beatles early in their career -- designated recording sessions for specific LPs. In the case of the Stones, one could make the argument that both the UK and the US LPs are just hodge-podges. It seems like they never had proper LP recording sessions until "Aftermath" -- they just seemed to stockpile tracks along the way and happened to record "in the gaps," as it were.

Mike East:

great show Matt!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm
Gaylord Fields:

@Mike Sin: Good point: The Stones would just record whenever, wherever.

yeah, uncanny Gaylord!

Thanks Matt! Ichiban 6! Woo!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm

Thanks Mike East!

@Mike Sin: Do you know why the tapes had different orders?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm
Gaylord Fields:

@MattBelow: It's so each side of the cassette would be approximately the same length. Otherwise, you'll have a long tail on one side and not the other.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm
Mike Sin:

I came to the "Crimson & Clover" LP late (read: after 25 years old) after just focusing on the singles, but man, James really got a well-oiled band behind him at this point.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm

@Gaylord: Makes sense
@Mike Sin: These later Tommy James singles are tight A$
