Avatar 12:13pm Miss Mailas:

Hi Carmichael, hope I don't make things any worse!

hey KP!
Avatar 12:21pm Joe B:

Me too Papi, I gotta track down the latest one from this year
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm Rory:

Rock music is dangerous for the kids!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm Parq:

Agree with Rory. Kids should be steered toward safe, wholesome activities like comic books and toy guns.
  12:25pm Hackensack Slim:

Hey Joe,
Lovin' this Neilage.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm Rory:

Parq, no no. Organized sports and constant parental supervision is what's best. Gotta keep the sheep in order ya know.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm Parq:

Rory, with you all the way on organized sports. A childhood spent standing around watching your dad scream at someone else's dad over a missed goal shot is a childhood well spent.
Avatar 12:41pm Joe B:

Hey Mr Slim! Hey parq!
Avatar 12:41pm SmokinJ:

Totally rockin'!
Avatar 12:41pm Sissophonic Cheryl:

Avatar 1:03pm Cecile:

Avatar 1:08pm Dr. Goot:

Sounds great!
Avatar 1:12pm Cheri Pi:

As soon as I heard that the song was titled "Time for Love" I knew this was a Joe McG discovery.
Avatar 1:15pm Joe B:

Yes Dr G, serge is the man!

CP, yes!
Avatar 1:23pm Cheri Pi:

****BLUSHES @JB!!***
Avatar 1:24pm Cecile:

ha! A sound guy named Serge. Think about it.

I can hear Joe blushing over the air!
Avatar 1:25pm Cheri Pi:

totally, C$
Avatar 1:26pm Cecile:

Oh! That was the guy from the Beasts of Bourbon!
Avatar 1:26pm Cheri Pi:

I love the covers of covers concept
  1:26pm JakeGould:

So what is this joke about two Philippinos walking into a bar?

Anyway, “The Pink Tiles” on Bandcamp: thepinktiles.bandcamp.com
Avatar 1:28pm Dr. Goot:

There's a Jolly Bee in JC? That rocks!
Avatar 1:29pm Cheri Pi:

I hope you went to Jolly Bee with them.
Avatar 1:29pm Dr. Goot:

I had pancit for lunch!
Avatar 1:30pm Cecile:

I am itching to try Filipino food.
  1:30pm JakeGould:

Wow, Jersey City Jollibee! I’m going to ignore the Yelp reviews and just put it on my list of “things to try.” www.yelp.com...
Avatar 1:31pm Cheri Pi:

Me too, I've never had it. What are the maiden voyage recommendations for n00bs?
Avatar 1:34pm Dr. Goot:

Lechon if you like pork.
Avatar 1:35pm Cecile:

I want Lumpia and that one noodle dish whose name I can't remember.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm Power Papi:

I like that weird spaghetti with the hotdogs from Jollibee
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm Mike East:

great Pink Tiles set!
Avatar 1:39pm Cheri Pi:

I want the Jolly Bee to really be a Jallaby.
Avatar 1:39pm Joe B:

Thanks Mike!
  1:40pm JakeGould:

@PowerPapi: I love how Western influence in the region has come up with stuff like that.
Avatar 1:40pm Cecile:

Phillipines is the crossroads to everywhere!
  1:41pm JakeGould:

@Cecile: Also in Vietnamese food. How do you think baguettes became Banh mi sandwiches?
Avatar 1:44pm Cecile:

Absolutely. Also Taiwanese food has a European influence in some dishes.
Avatar 1:44pm Sissophonic Cheryl:

Glad you pointed out it was intentional!!
Avatar 1:44pm Cecile:

YES
Avatar 1:45pm Cecile:

I don't begrudge Sleater-Kinney their success, but I always thought Scrawl packed a bigger punch.
Avatar 1:46pm Cecile:

barrrracuda -s!
Avatar 1:46pm Ken B:

Greetings from rainy Tucson, AZ.
  1:46pm JakeGould:

@Cecile: yeah, but the influences are always… Like in Chinese bakeries they have those hot dogs in a fancy Danish? I love that!
Avatar 1:47pm Joe B:

Cecile, I hear ya. Scrawl's songwriting was more in my wheelhouse. SK had the energy and, later, the chops
Avatar 1:48pm Kevlicki:

WFMU has me hooked on this song. promises promises...
Avatar 1:48pm Joe B:

ken did the Circle K live up to expectations?
Avatar 1:49pm Ken B:

I'm saving it for a special occasion.
Avatar 1:49pm Cecile:

Pigs inna blanket!
And what's even cooler is some of the new cross-cultural things happening here. I heard there is a barbeque place in LA that makes barbeque meat buns - only thing that's different is that the BBQ is saucy brisket.

I kind of think Scrawl came to their conclusions thru the school of hard knocks, and SK kind of at first learned about it thru books.
Avatar 1:49pm Cecile:

I love me some Tommy Keene.
Avatar 1:50pm Cecile:

Did I tell you about my drunken hijinks at a Robert Pollard show when Tommy was playing guitar for him?
Avatar 1:50pm Cheri Pi:

TELL
Avatar 1:52pm Cecile:

I had a lot of beers, and I was not feeling the Tommy Keene love from the crowd. So I borrowed a marker and paper from the ticket office, and wrote "PLAY PLACES THAT ARE GONE!!!!" on it. I stood in front of him, and he laughed really hard and shook his head. I screamed "why not!?!?!?!" and he pointed to Pollard. hahaha
Avatar 1:54pm Cheri Pi:

God that would have been awesome, I love that song and not so much GBV. I love the beer of GBV tho
Avatar 1:55pm Cecile:

I love a lot of GBV, and not a lot of GBV. It is a tumultuous relationship.
Avatar 1:55pm Cheri Pi:

I always get goosebumps on my arms when I hear dat one.
Avatar 1:56pm Cecile:

But I'll tell you what. Tobin Sprout is still my favorite songwriter in that band.
Avatar 1:59pm Cecile:

well, gotta eat and do homework. back in a while.
Avatar 2:00pm Joe B:

He of course did a great version of Places ... the other night
Avatar 2:01pm Cecile:

I would expect no less!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm Guido from Cologne:

yes, more of theese!
  2:33pm SeanG:

Nawlins Baby!
  2:38pm Nate K:

Hey Joe. Sounds good as always.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm Guido from Cologne:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm common:

Avatar 2:47pm Dr. Goot:

Avatar 2:53pm northguineahills:

Wow, that a recentish Charlatans, and it still sounded good!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm Guido from Cologne:

Great show thanks Joe
Avatar 👻 2:55pm David Shortell:

I remember seeing the "The Life and Times of the Red Dog Saloon" open at the Film Society of Lincoln Center. I suppose that documentary inspired the surviving Charlatans to reunite a year later.
