Listener comments!

Mark R.:

Morning, Mike. Jett Brando sounds cool.

fred:

Good morning Mike. I'm a little worried about your email announcing this show: "no booze", what does that mean?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04am
Mike Sin:

@Fred -- well, most of these fill-ins are liquor fueled. Not this one! Hey Mark R.
  6:05am
Mark R.:

Are you referring to the fact that you won't be consuming alcohol during a 6 am Sunday morning broadcast? I'm turning you off then. "Castles Made of Sand" is one of my favorite Hendrix tunes. I love the quieter, more contemplative ones--you never hear them, for one thing. I think "Axis" is generally overlooked a little bit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08am
Mike Sin:

@Mark R -- don't go!
  6:08am
Mark R.:

"Hot Wacks" is a great title. This is one of John's best tunes, I think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09am
fred:

I take it that the "no booze" rule only applies to the DJ. I can listen then
  6:10am
Mark R.:

Your substance consumption or lack thereof has no bearing on my listening intentions--I'm sure I've listened to many wonderful programs where the DJ was drunk/stoned. And I've heard some terrible ones where they weren't on anything and maybe should have been. I'm only interested in the tune-age. And so far, so good!
  6:11am
Mark R.:

Personally, my drug of choice is caffeine. I'm in no position to judge anyone.

Mike Sin:

@fred -- Yes, my rules only apply to myself in this case!

I was at Yair Yona's show yesterday -- it was great -- and at some point he talked about playing on WFMU, which he described as being both a radio station and a community. I liked that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19am
Mike Sin:

@fred - WFMU is essentially a community driven by passion!
  6:22am
Mark R.:

It's an insane asylum with the inmates firmly in command.

Love all these obscure tracks by these very famous bands--well, they're obscure to me.

Good morning RevRab! I knew you would answer the Jimi batsignal
  6:29am
Mark R.:

Rev. Rabbit did you catch the Hendrix?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- oh Mr. Sin's tastes are right up my wheelhouse.
@MarkR.: oh - Axis & Odessey aren't obscure to me !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...I like to say there are a few FMU-Js who could basically produce a new Volume of 'Nuggets' on demand!...
  6:35am
Mark R.:

No, I wasn't referring to "Axis"--but the Zombies, Yes and Animals tracks were all new to me! You always hear something you've never heard before on FMU.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36am
fred:

@RevRab: sure, but the mike breaks make it even better. It's like ever renewed liner notes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41am
fred:

"way back in 2006" after a set rooted in the 60's.
I was kicked out of my first high school band for laughing when the leader pretended his own compositions were Beatles bootlegs

You can't buy better sandpaper!

that's a real slogan from an old company...any way
pallet cleanse would be steel eye span or songs from the wood or go back to yYES and do I see You and then sleep Night all
  8:45am
Mark R.:

Mike, enjoyed your show today. I just started doing some fill-ins over the summer. I know it can be sort of challenging to fill someone else's time slot, but I think you do it right--you can only be yourself, and you pick out some great tracks. A nice way to spend Sunday morning. (If you're up insanely early Saturday, I'll be filling in for DJ Stashu from 3-6. i have a "Safe As Milk" CD that came out in 1999--it's got some nice bonus tracks, but I honestly can't tell you whether it's the stereo or mono mix. Sounds pretty good to me, anyway.

Chiming in on the Alice Cooper Reflected vs. Elected note: I definitely think Elected was a reworking of Reflected. No proof or documentation, but that's my 2 cents.

Hey Sue!!! Thanks Mark!
