Artist Song Album Label Images Approx. start time
This show is called "Mysterious Daddio" because that was how my father used to sign his correspondence to me. It was an alter-ego he invented, and the basis of various gags, including the Mysterious Daddio Songwriters Institute, under the auspices of which he would send me goofy sample song lyrics he had written. And he really is inscrutable.

Hey Charlie- A great blast from my youthful record listening. My LP of the Byrds is in Mono. You might want to revisit EAST WEST, Butterfield Blues Band from that time.
There is a great jam on that LP.
Avatar 12:05pm Carmichael:

Is it your Dad's birthday, Charlie? Mine was yesterday. Also, Danny Bonaduce turns 56 today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm Charlie:

Hi all! Yes, my dad's b-day is tomorrow. He will turn 89. The Mr Natural is a drawing he did on a postcard he sent to me when I was away at summer camp.
Avatar 12:09pm bobdoesthings:

@charlie - wow. that's amazing! I want my own personalized R Crumb post card.
  12:10pm gary mitchell:

The senior Mr. Lewis's exploits helps explain much of the younger Charles' interests.

  1:01pm jan:

Great tales of Sam Goody. That was THE store for music back in the 60's. Discounted
records, with different color price tags. I had to wait for my older brother to be drive us to the Walt Whitman Mall in Huntington Station to buy records. Kept a few of the LPs but most not. Your dad sounded very eclectic. My father liked Gershwin, Beethoven, Weavers, Seeger, Weill and Villa Lobos among others, but none of the pop music of us baby boomers. he is around 93 now. still listening to music!
Avatar 1:01pm northguineahills:

I might be dating myself, but I found this Jimi track via the Single sntrk, and it made me check out my father's "Are You Experienced". I never took it w/ me like my dad's other records, b/c in HS all of the kids who liked Jimi were stereotypical potheads (and I was going through a noise binge at the time I started college).

yes, LOT, there's a museum there now
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm Charlie:

In 1943 Louis and his wife, Lucille, bought a house in Corona, Queens, where they lived until he died in 1971.

Wonderful tribute show, Charlie.

My dad turned 81 yesterday. I recall being aware of his potential mortality when Elvis died, on 16 August 77. Elvis was born a year later than my dad.
Avatar 1:47pm βrian:

I was never an Elvis fan, but I do recall where I was when news of his death arrived.
