ALAN:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:20pm
efd:

yeah I need to revisit that whole Vex Ruffin album I think.
  9:20pm
JakeGould:

@Loretta: Don’t know about anybody else, but in my case it’s really hot in NYC and it’s that time of the summer where I am aware that in a few months it will be darker at night. Meaning I like to be out around sunset even if it’s hot because I will miss these days come October.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:21pm
efd:

thanks jon, hi fleep & common! Haven't heard the new New Order, Alan, will check it out.

Curious what record you were googling that led you here!

@fleep: I like tracking numbers. Remember when the USPS didn’t call them “Tracking” but instead they called them “Delivery Confirmation” numbers? Man I feel old!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54pm
chris:

goddammit people, if you don't have a good excuse, you better step on out to catch miriam at Hank's! i need to live vicariously through all the damn fun you'll have

@?: This looks like a good place for a Stick–Up®!
Avatar 9:59pm

Dive bars like Hank's are vanishing here as gentrification accelerates in Hollywood and DTLA. Hang onto that place, from the photos, it's a gem in the rough.

Mars Williams played something that looked like a floor lamp when I saw them. Can't remember what he called it. It was rather squonky and impressive.

Dang, EFD played Curve and I missed it?
  10:23pm
ALAN:

http://po.st/NewOrderiTunes Hit this for the new New Order track, Restless
  10:40pm
JakeGould:

@Ike: I knew you would show up late and say that and with the head of the dead ram and the whole thing. Also the Bahn Mi place on 8th Avenue near 64th Street is closed. Stinks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm
Stevel:

Thanks ALAN.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm
chris:

don't know if it was satan or the social media airhorn, but i totally jumped all over that action... plus, beersies!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm
efd:

thanks chris! I'll have to chalk it up to the mighty social media airhorn!
  10:52pm
Kat in Chicago:

Hi funkateers. I like this devil music
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54pm
Ike & Ram:

Which one is that, @Jake? Phos and Banhmi Inc.? If so, what I heard wasn't too promising anyway. Definitely hike up to 43rd & 8th for great banh mi at Ba Xuyen, but remember it closes early (6:30 every day). I haven't tried Thanh Da yet, have you?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:56pm
efd:

hey Kat, welcome! And belated greets Ike, Marcel and Stevel!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:57pm
Stevel:

Damned stoners! Can barely see through the smoke!

Uncle Michael:

I hear a certain AC/DC influence.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01pm
efd:

I don't disagree, UM!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01pm
Stevel:

chris:"caf, caf...thanks."

Loving Louis XIV. yes to the AC/DC. Digging the lyrics. The whole thing, actually.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12pm
Stevel:

So dedicated to perform "ticket" live every week. Also a bit OCD, but hey.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13pm
Uncle Michael:

Heading for the embrace of Morpheus. I'll be listening in the dark. 6:00 AM comes early.

Great stuff, Evan. Night all.
  11:15pm
ALAN:

Sadly can't win tickets as am in London.
  11:17pm
JakeGould:

@Ike: Yeah, “Phos and Banhmi Inc.” is very clearly in the process of closing. I tried “Thanh Da” and the Bahn Mi was okay, but honestly it seems like one of those places that unwrittenly is not for non-locals; aka white guys like me. I had a few tiny cure Chinese kids looking and pointing at me in the window when I visited. I know how animals in a zoo feel.
Avatar 11:20pm
fleep:

Isn't a Bahn Mi a sandwich (asked the rube)? What makes one better than another?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21pm
chris:

learn some chinese/vietnamese/french and pone those sandwich zealots, Jake
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21pm
Stevel:

Jake: Good for the soul to be on the other side of the glass, at least occasionally. I've photographed an ever-growing group of Burmese over the past 15 years. Strange. frustrating and refreshing to be in a room for an hour and not understand a word of the conversation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21pm
chris:

note: i would have written pwn, but i'm not sure who actually uses that these days...
  11:24pm
ALAN:

Right all, have to go and do some work, trains do not send themselves. Good night, see you all tomorrow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25pm
efd:

thanks for tuning in, Alan!

Good lawd this is a robotic ruckus indeed
Avatar 11:28pm

Avatar 11:28pm
Andrew S:

that nudity song was a scorcher, new to my ears
  11:29pm
JakeGould:

@Stevel: Kind of agree. The staff of the place was very nice, though. Would recommend going there at least once. But FWIW, as a child of immigrants I’ve felt that “What are you doing here?” gaze in dozens of places for dozens of reasons. Just not while eating a sandwich.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34pm
efd:

@Andrew S mine too, at least as of earlier tonight!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36pm
Ike:

That's odd. Thanh Da doesn't sound as welcoming as Ba Xuyen. I've seen folks of many different colors at Ba Xuyen and nobody stares at anybody. Those particular cute little kids were probably just assholes. Or maybe they themselves were new immigrants.
  11:38pm
Mido:

@Adrew S @efd yeah thx for that nudity track
  11:41pm
JakeGould:

@Ike: Perhaps a misunderstanding but will be honest… The Bahn Mi was Bahn Meh. I find the ones at Lotus in Park Slope and Hanco’s in Boerum Hill to cost about the same and be tons better.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...ya ever ? log onto a playlist & see tracks you've clicky☆ed already & stop & think - that's really a tiny bit amazing...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42pm
chris_in_space:

@efd, just got home from Jays vs Pirates. Really happy to have Tulowitzki on my team and not the Yankees. A HR and 3 steaks in his debut...
  11:44pm
JakeGould:

@Ike: FWIW, I just don’t find any of the places in Sunset Park near my neck of the woods to be that friendly in general to non-Chinese. Maybe it’s different in the 40s and 50s street-wise since it’s slightly more gentrified and they have to adapt, but at my side the places seem cool to indifferent to non-locals of all kinds… Except for “Phos and Banhmi Inc.” which was pretty friendly and a tad more open/modern.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:47pm
chris:

do you find banh mi to be more of a Chinese owned thing in NYC? its Korean's owning Japanese places here in the bay area... cuz, when i think of banh mi, i think of Vietnamese.
  11:47pm
Ignore Function:

Nudity from Olympia, WA?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:48pm
efd:

I believe so, Ignore Function! Something on the LP made me think they were from the NW.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51pm
Alex of Chicago:

Their Facebook page says Olympia.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52pm
Alex of Chicago:

And I've been thinking of PNW cities to move to. Olympia just stepped up a spot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52pm
efd:

oh that could be what I saw, I was on there earlier too
  11:52pm
Ignore Function:

If so I saw them years ago. I thought they were long gone. Chris from Dub Narcotic was in the band. They were great.
  11:54pm
JakeGould:

@chris: Yeah… Every Bahn Mi place in NYC seems to be Chinese owned. There’s one really nice Thai place in Bushwick that does a great Bahn Mi… But of course, Thai…
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02am
