Jan -- I don't know that much about her other than that she plays contemporary music on the koto. also does koto/computer pieces, and has done a piece where electronics are altered by laser beams or something like that. I do know that Harry Partch was heavily influenced by Chinese and other Asian music, though.

It's a fungus that grows on corn, it makes the kernels bulbous and black. It's really tasty. They throw it away here in the US, but it's a delicacy in Mexico, and farmers encourage it to grow.

I had no idea that something like Rain Song would have been made by Zep so late in their oeuvre, but then again, they lost me with the advent of the 2nd album. Heavy Metal was never sounded good to my ears.
