I've been working on this one for a very very long time! Glad you like it Tom! Who knew so many girls in the 60's were "retro"! Ha!

What year is that Sharon Tandy action? Never heard her sound like THAT.

Glynis GirlGroupGirl:

I'm in the mood to ROCK because the SONICS are here on Friday and I am BURSTING!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:28pm
Glynis GirlGroupGirl:

Yeah, Thomas. It's from a CD of her early stuff. I think from about '62 or '63..
Avatar 7:29pm
Thomas Torment:

I knew it had to be early - didn't even know she recorded that early. Very cool!

Sean B.:

These 'Mojo Men' girls sounded so baked at the beginning of this "Don't be Cruel" cover..;All slowed down down like that. Priceless.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31pm
Glynis GirlGroupGirl:

Yeah, that CD is just called "Sharon". I can flip it over to ya if you wanna hear more. Lots of Elvis covers.
I would imagine that Jan was thoroughly baked while she recorded Don't Be Cruel. LA in 1968 - EVERYONE was baked (read the Clinger Sisters story in the new Ugly Things! ha ha)
Avatar 7:33pm
Thomas Torment:

That Clinger Sisters article is great! Just finished reading it over the weekend.

Ann Margret...;I bet she would dig the Sonics even at her age. She's the bomb.Probably one of the most beautiful people on the planet inside and out.

Glynis GirlGroupGirl:

Once I attempted to stand and wait backstage (OK, in the alley behind the theater) when Ann Margret played here. Never did catch her. Guess she's too classy for the back door!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:37pm
Glynis GirlGroupGirl:

In the next few weeks, Patsy Clinger will be my special guest on Crayons to Perfume! She brings the Clingers story to life - and is a very sweet, lovely lady.
Avatar 7:39pm
Mailman Tom:

The Mojo Men had two wonderful tracks to their credit. "Sit Down I Think I Love You" and "New York City".
Avatar 7:40pm
Thomas Torment:

OH! Can't wait for that!
Avatar 7:40pm
Sean B.:

I really respect her & Audrey Hepburn. This version of Johnny B Goode is Ass Kickin'.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm
Glynis GirlGroupGirl:

I just love the Mojo Men with and without Jan (and the Vejetables too). One of my goals is to meet Jan Ashton and sit down and talk with her.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm
Glynis GirlGroupGirl:

Oh, you know what I found today (I've been doing some organizing in our record room)...a whole box of girl group cassettes my friends made me back from the 80's. A few were the protypes for Ultra Chicks and Swingin' Mademoisells but there are some others that were to be LP's and never released! I need a way to transfer my cassettes to CD or something. There are a few gems in there!!
Avatar 7:46pm
Sean B.:

Thanks for turning me on to the Mojo Men. Man I love the Orlons so much...I never heard this though=Excellent.I get excited about this stuff ya know...just a little...LOL.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48pm
Glynis GirlGroupGirl:

Ah, it actually all stems back to Mailman Tom! I had a few Orlons records, and they're his faves...so he influenced me to get more..and then I found Sea Cruise which was the fuel for this 50's in the 60's fire!
Avatar 7:50pm
Sean B.:

Well thank you for such a great show today!. The Brian Wilson tribute that Irwin did today was stellar...,also.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:52pm
Glynis GirlGroupGirl:

I didn't catch that so I'll have to go back and listen! Yay, archives!
Avatar 7:56pm
Sean B.:

I'm still waiting for your premium!; Can't wait. Have a great weekend!.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:57pm
Glynis GirlGroupGirl:

Premiums are coming soon! A few weeks ago they had just started getting some of them out. I have to wait until they are out to send the "Special" stuff I offered. They're too busy to give me addresses yet!!!
