A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Greenland: Not to bum everyone out but I read a piece in Harpers last night about a woman who has been going to Greenland and hunting with Inuits since the 90's. They can't really hunt anymore because the ice is going away. Kind of a devastating article. So if you want to see the real impact of Earth warming and you want to get bummed out, read it. "Rotten Ice" I think it's called.

They can't move south, north isn't much better and they don't want to fish. It's the usual scene, people drinking too much, committing suicide. Culture being taken away. When I moved back to DC after years in AZ & Maine, had to have a ritual halfsmoke with everything @ Ben's Chili Bowl. ... There's a review in the NYTimes about it, which I love for the last two sentences, "...finally, the sarcastic blast of “Song 2,” which had the packed club shouting “Woo-hoo” and pogoing like a punk crowd. It was nostalgic, but fully engaged."
