Always a pleasure to hear Jack Owens. Cold called his old musical partner Bud Spires while passing through Bentonia, MS, a couple years ago. He invited me over to his place, played a few songs on the harmonica, told old folktale/jokes, & generally charmed the heck out of me. RIP!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22am Doug Schulkind:

Greetings, hyde! I once threw my pork shoulder out and was eating vegetables for a week.

It's always an honor and a pleasure to have your company, Lore!

Avatar 10:16am ausmanx:

damn near the canoes, Alex... perversely, Maori talk about Chile! "There are some countries that have a real connection with the sea, the day's rhythm seems to be in sync with the tides." i suppose that's like a request for some water songs...

I have met some devoted Vince Guaraldi fans. It is easy to understand why they enjoy his music. And, when listening to a Vince Guaraldi record with them they were like happy little kids (they were all over 50) and their joy was easily infections.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42am Doug Schulkind:

Some have said that Vince Guaraldi is the most listened to jazz musician in history. And many credit him with getting them interested in jazz. To all of that I say THANK YOU Vince Guaraldi.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31am Doug Schulkind:

Speaking of fruity record labels, one of the first record stores I started mass purchasing at was the local Peaches chain store in Rockville, Maryland. It had the most amazing cutout bins in the history of the vinylverse. I bought about 20 Yusef Lateef records there in maybe 1975 and the rest is (my delirious) history.
Avatar 11:33am ndbob:

@Doug for sure - I worked near there at the time - One day I went in and they had a huge selection of County label prewar country collections in the cutout bin - must have bought 20 of them
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:37am Brian in UK:

In lieu of ......., read The Peaches by Dylan Thomas last night, the first story in Portrait of the Artist as a Young Dog.

Sounds like a great shop, you can test out sounds with little outlay.

Must give thanks for not only today's show, but for all the streamy blessings. Have spent long hypno-dogged-indoor-confinement days taking care of projects on the computer recently (I understand something called "Spring" is unfolding out there?), and yesterday the programs and the stretches of in-between musical flow on the Drummer stream were so good and especially welcome.
