Hey MM. Holy cow, your car broke down? Yikes. I'm glad I got rid of mine. Trains are way cooler. But then I'm not dragging a bunch of vinyl around.

i felt helpless and stranded when my car died coming out of the holland tunnel. they had to stop traffic and push me out

Ouch, what did you do then? Get a tow? Push it into the Hudson River and walk the rest of the way? Hire an octopus to drag you?

Marty McSorley:

its the battery. just replaced the alternator and i guess that wasn't the problem. ha. cause its still not charging. i got one of those jumper boxes and just had to sit on the side of the road letting it charge to start it again. then it died again and had to do it again. ha

@RRN63, wow, you're sure not likely to hear that many places in this car-crazy country besides NYC & VT. We're such outliers.
Avatar 7:23am
ausmanx:

i'm frankly sick to death of holier-than-thou anti-car city types, they're everywhere, they're not outliers at all. get back on four wheels ASAP, Marty, good luck!

We're definitely not everywhere in the U.S., unless you're in the bubble of NYC, and I *try* not to be holy-schmoly about it....

Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- the U.S. is way behind w/ Mass Transit (up here NH-Vt, they don't want Urbans bugging them - whatever other reasons they claim...) as w/ all our Infrastructure
- but mass transit doesn't get you everywhere (or @ all times): people obviously have to drive
...never even mind better fuels (all about the need for better batteries - indeed)...

Loved that No Age piece, MM. Terrific.

Yeah, all groovy today!

Mary:

Richard Roud's book of essays about cinema, "Decades Never Start on Time out for about a year. Reminded immediately while hearing the text piece as I woke up...Not sure if it is the No Age thing bec just saw the playlist ...was it the text piece about looting decades/generations/identity.
Anyway, good show from one residing in the art world quasi poverty continuum.

Columbo Chumbo:

@ Mary: FYI
According to the band’s imprint Post Present Medium, “Collage Culture” consists of “two different recorded experiences on either channel. On the right side of your speaker system you will hear excerpts of an essay by Aaron Rose titled The Death of Subculture and Mandy Kahn’s Living in the Mess (written for the book COLLAGE CULTURE: Examining the 21st Centuries Identity Crisis) read by various personalities. On the left channel you will hear two pieces of instrumental music written by No Age. Split the channels, or separate them for a different experience.”
