second to last would be "slast"
  9:49am
JakeGould:

Penultimate, Bryce. Second to last is penultimate.
  9:50am
JakeGould:

Doh! Thomas Storck! Not Bryce! Sorry! Still… Penultimate…
Avatar 9:51am
Thomas:

thanks, JakeGould! It came to me as soon as I turned off the mic
  9:54am
JakeGould:

No problem, Thomas… Also the only time I heard penultimate spoken casually was this utter snit of a magazine editor I was working with who always used penultimate to describe an edit. And she always had some issues with the “penultimate” sentence/paragraph/whatever.
  9:56am
JakeGould:

Nice “Ramones” cover.

pierre:

quick question guys, if you're massive lovers of the radio, which I don't doubt, how does it make you feel when one of your favorite Dj play something you really don't like ?

(I must precise, i'm not talking about this specific show as i'm either enjoying or discovering, mainly both at the same time. And in general, WFMU Dj, play what I want to listen, as they had some sort of reading mind trick)/
Avatar 10:10am
SteveFromStatenIsland:

no big deal because another song is coming up soon..
Avatar 10:11am
SteveFromStatenIsland:

also if theyre your favorite dj odds are theyve played dozens and dozens of songs you love or are happy to have discovered so you take the good with the bad
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12am
Marcel M:

In the spirit of free form, it wouldn't really make sense if one liked everything on FMU, even from their favorite DJ. I find it quite silly when people complain about things they don't like here. FREE FORM BABY!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15am
Marcel M:

And its so subjective anyway that you can't really say its "good" or "bad" and your taste cannot possibly match up COMPLETELY with someone else's.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16am
Polyus:

I fire off an angry email to the station manager.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16am
Marcel M:

@Polyus: haha. I hope you also go on tirades about DJs he's "fired"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17am
Greg from Bloomfield:

@Marcel: TRUTH.
At some point Ken said something about how even the most devoted listeners have to shut it off 6 or 7 times a day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18am
Marcel M:

@Greg: I know I do! Hehe.
Avatar 10:19am
pierre:

no, yes of course. I completely agree with all that.
That goes without saying. I was wondering, how the listeners react that's all.

@Marcel and Greg : I read that quote of Ken, I think it was on LCD, saying that it is the people that never shut the radio down that he is worried about. I felt a bit ashamed, as I really rarely turn it off (that explain all the "bonjour" I 've been giving all through the years)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24am
Greg from Bloomfield:

I remember reading a quote once...I wanna say it was Tristan Tzara, but I'm not positive...he said "These people are idiots! They only want to listen to what they like!" That was a real eye-opener.

I agree Greg ("I aGreeg"), that's what WFMU has been teaching me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30am
coelacanth:

good morning Thomas and everyone
  10:34am
JakeGould:

@pierre: “…how the listeners react that's all.” I break a chair against a wall each time. Ikea chair, Eames chair, thrift store chair, bean bag chair, it doesn’t matter… If casual entertainment does not give me what I expect, chairs get smashed.
  10:35am
Cheri Pi:

Good morning kids. I've got my app with me while Mr. CP gets gum surgery. if they only knew.
Avatar 10:36am

@JakeGould : where do you sit ?
  10:36am
JakeGould:

@pierre: I buy a new chair.

Each chair emits a unique tone at the climax of the smashing.
  10:41am
cheri pi:

Clergy!
  10:41am
JakeGould:

@coelacanth: So man promo chairs. I also review charcoal. Laugh, but it pays the bills.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41am
coelacanth:

the "smashing nuances".
  10:44am
JakeGould:

@coelacanth: Part of the reason one uses Elmer’s glue to secure wood dowels in Ikea chairs is because the sound is just not the same if you smash it without the dowels glued in.
Avatar 10:44am
pierre:

I think the only time I smashed a chair is by sitting on it.
  10:46am
JakeGould:

@pierre: Breaking a chair by sitting on it is like a Unicorn to me. Perfect and magical.
  10:48am
Nate K:

Tools? I have never heard this punk before. Good stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48am
coelacanth:

noted,Jake. i'll have to glue my chairs together BEFORE i smash them.
...the sonics have indeed been lacklustre lately.
  10:50am
JakeGould:

@coelacanth: You can use the chairs if the dowels are not glued in as long as the screws and bolts are tightened. But for sound depth, glue must be used.
