Wait, the FCC requires what now? They don't require anything besides station IDs, do they? Is it different for non-comms? I haven't heard back-announcing on a commercial station in YEARS.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55am
jj.:

y'know, i'm just repeating what a fellow DJ said when i told him that i was thinking about dispensing with the back announcements. i'm not going to anyway, but interesting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59am
Ike:

If it was Chris M. or Irwin, then you should know that they've been known to pull peoples' legs every now and then. ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00am
jj.:

heh, it was neither.

JakeGould:

Seems like malarky. I found this New York Times piece on CBS telling it’s DJs to back announce, but no FCC requirement. www.nytimes.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29am
jj.:

well, knowing that commercial stations are doing it less & less makes me want to do it more.

this sounds like a logical evolution of Terry Riley.,, very excellent

JakeGould:

‘Mr. Mason said that CBS would be experimenting with ways to identify songs, like using taped introductions by the artists themselves. In addition, stations’ Web sites would include playlist information going back “as far as several years.”’ Looks like WFMU is doing THAT better than CBS.

yeah, tristan is definitely a new school NYC minimalist (plus homemade electronics). he's got a bunch of wonderful projects/albums.
Avatar 2:50am
ausmanx:

shame; just went to his website to order it but he's charging $50 shipping to australia so i'm afraid that's out of the question!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53am
