Gary: Fastest commentslinger in the West!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm Gary:

I try not to pick sides, or get into beefs ... sides of beef aside
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm Doug Schulkind:

OK, now I'm hungry. Thanks, Gary.
Avatar 5:54pm glenn:

oooooh. bad puns and the show hasn't even started.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm Doug Schulkind:

@glenn
That wasn't very funny.
Avatar 5:58pm ndbob:

Avatar 5:58pm glenn:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm Doug Schulkind:

Hello, ndbob!
Avatar 6:02pm Carmichael:

Hi Doug and, I'm assuming, Thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:03pm holland oats:

drumma gettin' stitchy with it!
Avatar 6:03pm Carmichael:

What about hits that were the B-side? Are you gonna flip them too?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04pm Doug Schulkind & Thing:

Hi and howdy, Carmichael and holland oats!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04pm Doug Schulkind:

If I played a 2-part Charlie Parker tune, would I be flipping the Bird?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm coelacanth:

howdy Doug,Drummers,Things,Miss Things,others.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:07pm Doug Schulkind:

Nice to see ya, coelacanth!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08pm coelacanth:

shtt you can see me? okay,i'm sitting up straight.
Avatar 6:08pm Carmichael:

His Master's Hand.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09pm Doug Schulkind:

Because I didn't want to break up any A Side/B Side pairings, today's show will be only two and not the customary three sets.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09pm Doug Schulkind:

No worries, coelacanth. You wore clean britches today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm Doug Schulkind:

Interesting personal story about this Alabama Bus tune here: marshamusic.wordpress.com...
Avatar 6:11pm Carmichael:

I heard on this morning's news that the Sharp Smart TV has a software bug where other TV watchers can hear your conversations around the ol' idiot box. Seriously.
Avatar 6:12pm ndbob:

good one here Doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm Doug Schulkind:

I could do a whole show of songs about buses, ndbob. This would be the jewel in that particular crown.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:18pm coelacanth:

clean,so far.
  6:18pm Dean:

The "Scatman Crothers Discography" caught my eye on the issue of Blues & Rhythm. Scatman Crothers?! The guy who showed up on sitcoms and game shows in the '70s? Turns out he did an album with Joe Williams. My mom used to wait tables at a restaurant in Whittier, CA, in the '70s. One of her regulars was Scatman.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm Doug Schulkind:

@Dean
I have a whole record of Scatman numbers. I have his "Golly Zonk" right here! (digitally speaking)
Avatar 6:21pm ndbob:

@Dean Scatman made some good R and B singles too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22pm Doug Schulkind:

Whoever split this performance into two separate parts is going (or has already gone) straight to Hell.
Avatar 6:24pm Carmichael:

That's why they called him "The Scat Man". By the time he was on Sanford & Son, he was way past his prime.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm Gary:

Mildred!
Avatar 6:24pm Flash Strap:

Scatman drummed for Slim Gaillard for a while too. There's some awesome footage of that combo somewhere on youtube. Slim's one of the few cats that could be in a band with the Scatman and be the cooler number (and arguably more deserving of the name Scatman, but whatever).
Avatar 6:25pm Flash Strap:

also howdy yall
  6:26pm Dean:

@Doug, ndbob & Carmichael: Raised as I was on the bland fare of talk shows during that time, I would never have learned otherwise. Ironically, compared to the junk on TV nowadays, Mike Douglas seemed pretty cool, but only relatively speaking.
Avatar 6:26pm ndbob:

Heya Flash!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm Doug Schulkind:

@Flash Strap!
Boy, I would've loved to have been Scatman and Slim's pot supplier. I would be retired by now.
Avatar 6:27pm ndbob:

Mike sure had some interesting guests
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm Santos L Halper:

This is epic. Sure it's not pts 1,2,3,& 4?
  6:27pm Dean:

My mom supplied him with coffee, a burger, the daily special...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:28pm holland oats:

a trinity fo sho
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:28pm Doug Schulkind:

@Santos L Halper
Well said.
Avatar 6:31pm Flash Strap:

I would swim the frozen seas just to roast a bone with those two and lose my mind as Slim started playing piano with the backs of his hands. Though if Bam Brown were on the scene too I think I'd just die of joy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32pm Doug Schulkind:

@Dean
Did you say a burger? Now I'm REALLY hungry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm Doug Schulkind:

@Flash Strap
How exotic!
  6:36pm Dean:

Dig the prices: http://www.mhodistributors.com/jolly-roger-2-b.jpg
  6:37pm Dean:

Now I'm trying to remember the records labeled sides 1 and A...
Avatar 6:39pm Carmichael:

I remember a Cat Stevens album labeled "This" and "That".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:40pm Doug Schulkind:

This is horribly embarrassing, but... full disclosure:
I just played part 2 BEFORE part 1.

The shame.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm Gary:

, man. Ah
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm Doug Schulkind:

@Carmichael
I read the Dr. Seuss book: The Cat and the That.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:45pm Doug Schulkind:

The saxophonist on this cut is Clarence Clemons!
