I am SO excited for this show.
Hey, Everyone. :)
Thanks for doing this, Devon!

This "Assault on Precinct 13" is/was some DJ's bed music. Never knew what it was.

I've still never seen The Thing. I'm squeamish. Perhaps need to drop some E before I watch it. Or perhaps the use of Ecstasy in therapeutic practice is only for overcoming trauma AFTER the fact, and I have to wait and take the E afterwards? Oh who am I kidding, it's never going to happen.

“I thought you were dead?”

Glad to see/hear this being done. Thanks for doing this! Much appreciated.

The Thing is *easily* one of my favorite movies EVER. The special effects are amazing - they have definitely withstood the test of time. Come on, ironybread - you're missing out!

What Claw! said. “The Thing” is amazing. So creepy.

Yo, Jake! :)

I don't think I've seen The Thing, but if you guys say it is awesome, then onto the queue it goes!

Pete from Boston (and NJ):

I saw The Thing when I was about 10. It didn't really do it for me at 10, but I felt I had to ride it out and watch the whole thing. Perhaps it's time to revisit.

Claw!:

Do it, Mike. For serial.
You can thank us later.

Ken From Hyde Park:

"The Blob" was pretty scary for me. How does "The Thing" compare with that?
  7:22pm
Cooh John:

"Christine" is one of my favorites because it has cool cars and rock 'n roll.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23pm
Mike East:

will do, Claw!!
  7:24pm
JakeGould:

Ken, if you thought “The Blob” was scary, then “The Thing” will send you to the emergency room.
Avatar 7:25pm
Claw!:

Aw, Ken... I used to have recurring nightmares about the blob chasing me when I was a kid!
It's a different vibe, though. "The Thing" has the fear and suspense from the creature lurking about, but it's also coupled with this desperate sense of isolation. Crazy creature FX. Just watch it. You won't be sorry. I promise.

bloopy:

Halloween 3 is so good. Great show!
Avatar 7:28pm
Claw!:

Man, all this talking about The Thing is getting me all excited. I think I'll be breaking out the ol' Thing DVD and watching it again. Never gets old.
Thanks for that, y'all. :)
  7:29pm
JakeGould:

“Halloween 3” was not that good. In fact it sucked. But the premise of the kids masks. Creepy. Now put on your mask and watch this. www.youtube.com...

See all of these films, especially the Thing!

Pete from Boston (and NJ):

This is a really great show. It's making folding laundry seem so sinister.

MKT:

Thank you for playing "Benson Arizona!" Always thought it was the right feel for an astronaut's theme song. Tried getting a roomful of amateur astronomers to follow the bouncing ball and sing that one once, no dice.

Devon E. Levins:

Carpenter retrospective at BAM this month so you can see them all on the Big Screen!
Avatar 7:52pm
Claw!:

The hour really does go by too damn quickly, especially tonight. :( It's friggin criminal that your time slot isn't longer, Devon.
  7:55pm
ice in bklyn:

Also Dave Davies' birthday today!
  7:55pm
JakeGould:

@Devon, one caveat about the Carpenter retrospecitive at BAM. They showed “Escape from New York” about 10 years ago and it was one of the worst scratched to hell prints of a film I ever saw. Maybe this time they got better prints, but just my 2 cents.
Avatar 7:57pm
GetOutOfDarkness:

I like "Lost Themes" overall but I feel like its stuck in between eerie soundtrack music and dance music.
Avatar 8:00pm
Claw!:

Thanks, Devon! Awesome.
