Sounds ripped from cassettes & CDs found in immigrant-run mom & pop stores. Deconstructed icons. Field recordings. Sonic mayhem from the far corners of the internet.

December 31, 2014: Party for Your Right to Fight
Get ready to turn your back to the NYPD and shake your booty with gun-toting Māori rappers, guitar-wielding Cameroonian writers, MCs from Monterrey, Sheffield electropunks, and politicized DJs from Beirut to Long Island.

excellent hour Gary - happy New Year everyone!
Holly in NC:
@ndbob - I very respectfully disagree re overreaction, I am seriously worried that NYPD is well on the way to forming its own army. But I should've been more clear, I think the Union head(s) s/b fired immediately, all others s/b retrained & get a second chance before firing.
@ljfw - Ms. Skloot's book is one of the best, maybe the best, "pop sci" non-fiction books I've ever read. I've read it 3 times! Hate agreeing w. Oprah, but hey ;-)

And again: anyone here fallen into the Serial rabbit hole?

HOWEVER the followup (whose name I can't remember.. Yours For Eternity i think its called?) which is a collection of love letters between Damien and his future wife, is, arguably, a cash grab, and while emotionally powerful definitely did not make my best of list...

GARY! Your wonderful girlfriend, sister & Mom are probably pushing same or similar, but this I guarantee - if not helpful, you need to go see a medical professional stat:
- slug of whiskey, scotch, rum, or bourbon
- huge squeeze of lemon
- big glug of honey
- lg pinch cayenne
- lg coin fresh ginger, bruised, or a shitstorm of dried
- mix with water to fill vessel of choice, heat or nuke
- top up with more (fresh) booze, honey, lemon & cayenne
Drink. IF not leaving house, repeat.
Sleep, for at least 8 hours. Call in all love & favors to allow you to sleep for 8 hours.

Thank you, Gary!
(Mom mode) - go make that drink!
@ngh - it's wonderful, but not a cocktail. If made & used appropriately, you will go to bed, and sleep hard... and Gary sounds so awful he might need 2! ;-)

I smoked, A LOT for many years. A LOT. Anyway, when I first started, after going through the usual teenage gateway Marlboro/Newport/More cigs, and a flirtation with Players, for an embarrassingly long time was all about "Benson & Hedges Ultra Light Menthol 100s" because yes, they existed, and what fun to say! I was such an idiot.
