	12:30pm Milson: I usually have a bag of Cheetos during Bryce's show... my coworkers just think I have sinus problems and chalk it up to difficult breathing while snacking.

	12:38pm Cecile: Cheri, it is good old diner food with the nicest waitresses. They make these folded pancakes called "applejacks" with homemade apple pie filling and give you a dish of butter pats to put on top. Their baked chicken special on Sunday is enormous and delicious. If you get a hot chocolate, they put the whipped cream on with an ice-cream scoop. Across the street is a meticulously maintained Cenex co-op and gas station that has the ultra rare New Glarus beer. It's only sold in a few neighboring counties. I love Wisconsin sometimes.

	1:10pm βrian: Eh, if you haven't had it, you may be a bit disappointed. That's their one "commodity" beer. Bud drinkers like it, so it sells well and it subsidizes the other beers.

	1:21pm coelacanth: ...i really wasn't being snobby about beer preference. My local pub has a few less expensive beers than budweiser,and those far outsell bud. When they have bud "bomber" specials,though,bud sells the most.

	1:23pm βrian: In our house Rhinelander used to be a favorite. It came in an 8-pack of longnecks for $1.89. The label noted it was "an all-grain beverage!"

	1:26pm Cecile: I personally love a well-made lager. It's smooth and hard to get right. But I understand that lager tends to be a crowd pleaser. And I do not like Bud much at all.
	1:26pm Davis: i went to school in tadcaster-- grew up drinking Sams old brewery bitter.... never did me any harm...

	1:28pm coelacanth: I've never heard of rhinelander. That must be about as cheap as it gets! I will say that when i cannot afford scottish ales & irish stouts,i enjoy shlitz,miller,and genessee creme ale.

	1:29pm βrian: Spotted cow is an ale, actually. Not a Pale Ale. (A Wan Ale, maybe?) New Glarus does do some excellent lagers. I've come to appreciate those most.
	1:30pm coelacanth: i used to like sam smith's taddy porter,but it's been a while. ...I'm more often a liquor drinker.
	1:31pm Cecile: I can never keep ale and lager straight. I just call 'em "nice gold-colored beers"
	1:32pm βrian: I once stashed two Genesees beneath the water line in an Adirondack stream and retrieved them a year later. A mountain stream beer commercial if there ever was one.

	1:33pm Cecile: that sounds awesome, Brian. Speaking of mountain stream refreshing, I have become a convert to ice-cold martinis featuring Boodles gin. Regular Stroh's I like, but I don't think they make the dark anymore.

	1:34pm Carmichael: After being a hop head as long as I have been, I cannot drink lager at all anymore. It's more like a throw-down-my-throat kind of beer.

	1:52pm Cecile: I always had an amazing time at their shows. I was also very drunk. But I think Pollard's an amazing singer, and I love Tobin Sprout's songs.
	1:52pm coelacanth: just looked into it.Foret is still available,though not where i used to get it. It's "organic",in the same 25 oz corked bottle with a beautiful label as it had 15 years ago,when i was infatuated with it.
	1:54pm stefica: I made pie last week with this Ivo Bittova as the soundtrack.
	1:54pm Bryce: saisons are a fave in the volunteer room, here, on fridays
	1:54pm Milson: Not a big GBV fan, but that recorded New Year's Eve "farewell show" in Chicago where Bob has the bartender right on stage was pretty great... more of a Vampire on Titus type dude.

	2:26pm coelacanth: oh jeez - hot chocolate with brandy & vanilla ice-cream. I wont be able to let this go until i have it.
	2:27pm Cecile: I made an iced drink with cooled Mexican hot chocolate and horchata Liqueur that was pretty great.
	2:29pm coelacanth: Right,Brian. I like my ouzo pure & in quantity; and you may like a strong ouzo-chocolate...I just thought it overpowered the chocolate too much.

	2:32pm βrian: Penzey's Natural Cocoa Powder (eschew the dutch-process), a pinch of Ceylon cinnamon, and a dash of cayenne. Sugar and whole milk, of course. Add booze as needed.
	2:33pm DCE: yes, boozy rice pudding is a sentiment I can get behind
	2:33pm Cecile: Penzey's is great.

	2:35pm GeesyCreesy: I can't imagine it being good, but it received favorable reviews. That horchata liqueur sounds exciting, though

	2:37pm steve: i just got a 'mexican mocha' which has chocolate and cinnamon and is painfully spicy
	2:37pm Cecile: it's pretty damn good. A couple years back A liquor distributor was visiting a restaurant where we were regulars and he had us try some. We liked it so much that he gave us a free bottle. We've bought it at least twice since then.
	2:38pm Cecile: Mexican hot chocolate should be smooth, cinnamony and mellow. You can taste a little chili in there, but it's not anywhere near hot.
	2:38pm Cheri Pi: I can see myself getting through the winter with a bottle of horchata liquor by my side.
	2:38pm Cecile: We use the Abuela tablets.
	2:39pm GeesyCreesy: Nice. Do you recall the name of that brand of horchata liqueur?
	2:40pm Cecile: Richacha. But I've had Rum Chata too and it's pretty good.
	2:40pm DCE: I did try that Blue Moon Horchata. it's not bad. but like all the Blue Moon varieties it's maybe too sweet or syrupy or something for me. They taste ok but leave a funny feeling in me belly.
	2:40pm Cecile: I like the classic Blue Moon, and not as much as I used to since I "discovered" Chimay.
	2:41pm DCE: I've still never tried Chimay...what is my problem?
	2:42pm Cecile: I don't know. It's pretty damn delicious. Has a really strong kick though, as much ABV as wine.
	2:42pm Cheri Pi: Chimay was my post-college fall in love with beer, beer. It's so dang good.

	2:45pm Cecile: If you are in Ashland, WI, there is a surprisingly good Mexican resto called El Dorado. I asked for Mexican hot chocolate, and they brought me horchata by mistake and it was amazing.
	2:47pm Cecile: my bro-in-law who helps the EPA clean up dump sites in Northern WI also agrees. He is the expert on every weird little good restaurant in northern WI.

They make these folded pancakes called "applejacks" with homemade apple pie filling and give you a dish of butter pats to put on top. Their baked chicken special on Sunday is enormous and delicious. If you get a hot chocolate, they put the whipped cream on with an ice-cream scoop. Across the street is a meticulously maintained Cenex co-op and gas station that has the ultra rare New Glarus beer. It's only sold in a few neighboring counties. I love Wisconsin sometimes.

	2:37pm Cecile: it's pretty damn good. A couple years back A liquor distributor was visiting a restaurant where we were regulars and he had us try some. We liked it so much that he gave us a free bottle. We've bought it at least twice since then.
	2:38pm Cecile: Mexican hot chocolate should be smooth, cinnamony and mellow. You can taste a little chili in there, but it's not anywhere near hot.

	2:40pm DCE: I did try that Blue Moon Horchata. it's not bad. but like all the Blue Moon varieties it's maybe too sweet or syrupy or something for me. They taste ok but leave a funny feeling in me belly.
