A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

It's entertaining having it read to me. Cos Davis describes everyone as a "mothafucka", and it's always in an complimentary way.

Is there anything elephant dung can't do?

Oh MY GOD. I knew this song before you posted the title. PIRATE JENNY is one of my favorite songs for obvious reasons. It's great to hear it in German, but I still think Nina Simone's version is fantastic and deadly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

@Kevlicki: Miles' autobiog a must read. 'What are you doing in my car?' has became a catchphrase. ; )

Juliette Greco did a version of Pirate Jenny in French which is also great
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07am
Adrian in London:

Morning Trouble, morning all. @Kevlicki The Ian Carr biography of Miles is very good too. The London DJ/writer Robert Elms once interviewed Miles and was told he could speak to him for 10 seconds. He quickly asked a question, Miles answered with a curt: "No", and that was that!
Avatar 10:08am

@kevlicki no sweat. I'm never too serious

but in all seriousness.. Naming anything "The new" is just bad planning..

This Julien Gasc track is great. I see he's played with Laetitia Sadier, you can sort of hear that. Sadly he only released 120 copies of this album on vinyl and they're all gone.
  10:10am
r i s k y:

Oh this track mixed with the high levels of caffeine in my system.

SUBLIMINAL SUBLIMITY!
  10:11am
Kevlicki:

It's a period of Significant cultural history that I know the names from, finally checking out his autobiography is a great education on the chronology and musical relationships of the most incredible jazz artist. I'm really enjoying it. I really respect Davis' racial consciousness, politics and how much of a bad ass he was!
