Good morning Marty & listeners!

I was about to clicky-star that Nick Cave, but I had already done so. I'm always surprised when I agree with myself
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38am
Åžen Chumbo:

Morning, Marty7. Hello, fred; evening, ausmanx; hey there, YY and the Anchovy. Good to see you staying in this slot for the next six months, MM.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46am
Åžen Chumbo:

@ausmanx: maybe the title should be *ASIAN CHICKS with GUNS*. Leaves little to the imagination and gets right to the point:-P
Avatar 6:54am
ausmanx:

i fear that title may already have been taken, sem. but then again, asian chicks with guns 2, 3, 4 and 5 would always have a market!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:57am
Åžen Chumbo:

hahaha.Of course, lowest common denominator. What was I thinking?
Avatar 6:58am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Yes! - Good to see Marty's going nowhere...altho' JoeBelock going to Monday breaks up the perfect WFMtUesday for me (Tue. is 'Sat.' in *my* werkweek) ; I can always listen to the Joe Archive in the same slot (altho' not thru the iTunes EQ best for my speakers or in realtime)...

@ausmanx: You wanted Voter Apathy - & you got it in four spades: the lowest turnout since WWII when people had the excuse of being on other continents &/or satisfied w/ FDR - & this w/ record campaign spending (yet by fewer sources).
- Lower voter turnout nearly always favors the Republicans.
Clearly you & I share many values
- but people who like their free-thinking independence & aren't good @ joining institutions are always @ risk of being controlled by those who Organize & march in step - like the Celts up against the Romans - or Native Americans against Conquistadors. Anyhow - Congratulations. I hope you like what non-participation is gonna bring you - altho' I don't think you will.

@RRN63: Well, Liz had often said she's not a morning person, so I'm happy for her moving to a later slot, and not on Mondays to boot
Avatar 7:13am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Yes - it's reassuring when a sched. change is clearly a DJ choice - & I can see the flow of Marty>Liz>Brian...
Avatar 7:14am
ausmanx:

we've got compulsory voting here, RR, and you think "participation" gives you good government? if there was an "institution" that wasn't complicit in the abuses and the protection of privilege, i'd be the first to join. but there isn't, and the electorate, as stupid as it largely is, at least sees that quite clearly. did it cross your mind that what you call "apathy" is just as much a form of protest, and in fact a better one that just ticking a box for tweedledum or tweedledee?
Avatar 7:17am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...& oh boy can I relate to not being a morning person !

@ausmanx: Dems & Repubs 'are the same' & so you're happy w/ the result. If that's what you think that's your prerogative. Like I said - Congrats. It went your way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20am
fred:

@ausmanx: Chances are France will put apathy to a risky test in a few years. I'm not looking forward to having the National Front in power, but that's looking awfully likely. You're right about the cause of this, but the default choice really sucks here
Avatar 7:24am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- also consider the truly massive - & that's not hyperbole, it's a fact ( - in the U.S., which is what we're talking about) - campaign spending by rich privileged interests on Negative Campaigning designed to create exactly the result we got. Which of the two 'identically awful' Parties advocates for Campaign Reform, folks? One guess - & it's not the one on the Right that wants to deregulate what Business & the moneyed can do no matter the consequences.
Avatar 7:26am
ausmanx:

no, quite wrong. i'm not "happy" with what we laughingly call "democracy" in any of its forms. the result last week is as repulsive as any other vote is likely to be under the absurd system. "least worst" or "default choice" is NOT acceptable, and i'm so tired of people saying it is. Fred, France won't get a Le Pen presidency because they have a run off system (if they had first past the post, they just might, though!). but it's true, i'm afraid my politics has it that we have evolved to the point where you need a TRULY appalling government in power before the people will get the system changed. and these guys are too clever to allow that.
Avatar 7:26am
adam_nspy:

I forgot about this one - really great. (ducktails)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31am
fred:

@ausmanx: The runoff worked the first time (Le Pen senior) because voters on the left massively voted for the right-wing candidate. Not such a sure thing next time around, and Bob help us if it's Le Pen vs a "left"-wing candidate
Avatar 7:34am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Two terms of Duhbya was not truly appalling? Always the message: Voting Doesn't Matter. I can't agree.
...I get your Marxist Theory, & would be amused by the Bloody Revolution as much as any Discontent (what you & I are)
- but the System is large & powerful enuff that I will go for Least Worst every single time! As John Lennon said - if it's only an inch of difference - it might be the inch somebody can get their head above & breath in. Vote !
- I'm not informed enuff on the French or Australian situations to speak to them...I just always think that WWII followed the Depression, & when you take the Money out, everybody goes Conservative & Nationalistic (Anti-Immigrant) &tc. - & that's World-Wide...
Avatar 7:36am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- & apologies to Marty & All for the Political Noise here @ the party (small 'P')...

Manowar in the AM... nice
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:01am
Marcel M:

I could totally see this music playing while the damsel throws the flower to her chosen knight..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:03am
fred:

@Patrick Stankard: "Manowar in the AM" should be the name of this show next time Nachum has to take JM in the AM off the air for a holiday
Avatar 8:05am
PKNY:

I saw Manowar once, and the guitar player (dude who replaced Ross the Boss) was wearing a leg immobilizer while rocking his 'War stage duds. Joey DeMaio claimed that the guitar player injured his leg during a groupie tryst on the tour bus.

Fatal Jousting !...fried chicken.
Avatar 8:06am
ausmanx:

i've often puzzled as to why jousting has not been revived as a 21st century spectator sport. it would be damn popular, n'est pas? imagine the merchandising opportunities!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:08am
Marcel M:

That the one in NJ Marty? Brings back memories...
Avatar 8:10am
PKNY:

While it's probably more fitting for this set, this Yngwie J. track is not as epic as "I Am a Viking".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:12am
fred:

@ausmanx: I'm afraid it requires too much real estate, and horses are expensive. Jousting on motorbikes would be too deadly/graphic. Now, hipsters jousting on one-speed bikes... you may be on to something
Avatar 8:12am
PKNY:

But I gotta admit, Y is unleashing a hot stream of sweep arpeggio f**kin fury at that 3-headed dragon.

may i warmly recommend the chapter on Violin Metal in Jon Rose's new book, including a description of the fraught history of the Flying V violin and a review of the legendary FROM STRAT TO STRAD album... au.blurb.com...

@Caryn: he could also get in trouble with the TSA with that thing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:35am
Caryn:

@RRN63: heh! I prefer the Lordi idea of "the Devil is a loser and he's my bitch". Making yourself to be tougher than Satan is preferable to having to eat your stage kit.
