A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

YES, I AM SUPERIOR, which is what anyone with standards in non-criminal politicians is used to being called. (Were you the rabbit on the grassy knoll?) Anyway keep it up with the basement-level expectations, it's why the Dems don't listen to a thing to the left of Rob Reiner...

@BillW: I believe your SocioPolitical awareness clearly *is* Superior to Average. I just don't agree it should keep you - or anyone - from Voting for the better of the choices we actually have @ any given time. & I agree w/ you (& Howard Dean on last 'Meet The Press') that the Dems have important things to learn.

- Who knows what the Manuscript says - but it puts me in mind of a talk by Terrance McKenna on Psychedelic Salon

@Bill W - I tend to agree with you. When the choice means choosing between war criminals or political/economic oligarchs....this is a choice of the damned.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...The bitter Reality is the U.S. tends Center Right - certainly after Reagan - & certainly after the Republican Revolution years of Gingrich & Karl Rove destroyed Bipartisan cooperation to actually tend to the needs of the People & the actual Country. It's not *my* choice that it's so Polarized - or that the Left has been dragged so far to the 'Center'. But it's the Facts now.

Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

@rsj: Naturaly - one wants for more than Two Parties in a nation of 300+million - it's exactly what we need. But - they tend to just be Spoilers - on the Right (Perot, Buchanon) as well as Nader on the Left ! Remember!: The Nazis won the Elections by a few thousand Votes (that's right - Elected) - because the other Parties divided the Vote up too much ! This is serious business.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36am

@RRN63: at this point national elections are just choosing your favorite flavor of oligarch. Vote in local elections, where it could make a difference. Maybe you could even run.

loved that mndsgn... how does one say that? is it, like, men design?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

@fred: I think this is a large part of what John Lennon for instance was trying to teach us about Activism - & what Trouble has said about Patriarchal Hero Worship. In the ♒Aquarian Age - it's about how much we can Grow Up & become Individualized - & Govern for ourselves. Government is hiring other people to run things for you. That's fine if those people have better skills to do it & agree w/ you. There's no guarantee of that whatsoever...It's a long evolutionary climb to this kind of 'Adulthood', though.

@RRN63: study the Tea Party's playbook. There's no reason those plays wouldn't work for progressives as well as conservatives. As you said, there's been too much trust in delegation. Your own tradition says as much

@bobdoesthings: that seems downright sane compared to the french policy: Vietnamese musicians didn't get a visa though it was the cultural "year of Viet Nam". Reason from the embassy: why don't you hire Corsican singers instead?

I agree w/ all you say really - except that Not Voting is better than Voting for the Less Evil of what's offered. Unfortunately, that's a Vote for the Worst in reality. That's my only point, really.

Hi Trouble - thrilled you reached your goal!!! Many congratulations! And well done for pronouncing Mirfield correctly. It's in West Yorkshire, in case you're interested ; ) A great show as usual. And I should mention that the passage of music beginning with Seu Jorge and ending with Debruit was among my very favourites so far, in my relatively short time listening to your wonderful show. Well done again Trouble.
