Every show starts with the ’70s! We’ll rediscover forgotten rockers, revisit unfairly maligned disco beats and replay power-pop favorites. Next: plenty of new releases, occasional live bands and more. Don’t let the nickname confuse you.

October 8, 2014: MAYHEM IN THE PM: THE MAYHEMMING! 3 hours of power-pop, post-punk, new wave and punk from 1977-1982! (week 2 of WFMU's Silent Fundraiser and Mascot Contest)
Listen to this show:
Pop-up player!
It's week two of WFMU's Silent Fundraiser and Mascot Contest, and I've put together a special show to remind you of how awesome WFMU is (not to mention my show in particular! right?!), and hopefully to motivate you to pledge.
Tonight it's the eagerly awaited return of Mayhem In The PM! Yes, it's another three hours of nothing but power-pop, post-punk, new wave and punk records (yes, RECORDS) from 1977ish through 1982, presented in a Top 40 style just like I used to do on WNYU's New Afternoon Show* a long long time ago. You'll hear some of your old favorites and some others that'll become new faves instantly!
Now, because this is a SILENT fundraiser I won't be talking about it much at all during my show which means I'm depending on the written word to convince you to PLEASE PLEDGE! We're asking for your help so we can outfit our recently opened performance space, Monty Hall, with some key audio gear and an instrument backline so that having a show in Monty Hall doesn't disrupt the station's live recording studio.
If you've already pledged, THANK YOU! Your support is greatly appreciated. If not,
P L E A S E P L E D G E N O W !
Stay tuned for more exciting special shows all month, and please take a moment to Like The Evan "Funk" Davies Show on Facebook and follow me on Twitter! Thank you.!
*I really recommend reading this article to get a better understanding of the inspiration for tonight's show.

...exciting freedom from 'Old Wave' - but already wondering what will become of Punk's energy ; there's great spirit in these - but knowing now the path lead to MTV kinda puts the damper on for me...& then I ☆ most of them anyway...
- Lords' 'hit' 'Open Your Eyes' I liked...
- Yay - Selecter I don't know...

In Madison we had our share of cool shows through. I talked the manager of Merlyn's (best club) into letting me in to shoot so I could sell him prints to frame for the walls. I was cheap.

smiled at that expression: 'the bong-laced indulgent blabbering' (of other college stations),
and since Blag Flag is mentionned, comes back to my memory their many shows at Maxwell's in the mid-eighties.

I was lucky enough to have an amazing radio experience early on via KFML Denver. Initially as free-form as WFMU, except you'd hear violently different stuff in the same hour (Alice Cooper/London Philharmonic) It spoiled me. Good stations have been few and far between.
