Joe Hill coined the phrase "pie in the sky." Mmmmm, coins.
Avatar 5:50pm glenn:

blueberry pie sounds better than blueberry coins.

Bits of pie. Bitcoins. We report, you decide.

I'll assume you are just goofing, glenn. Clint's gotten about 150% more than could be expected from the talent he was given. But I know you were goofing.

Welcome to Under the Radar Radio, Carmichael!

I saw him Carmichael, not sure if he was a troll, more of a case of textual diarrhea.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34pm Doug Schulkind:

Considered including a Springsteen version. (Didn't make the cut.)
Avatar 6:36pm northguineahills:

Didn't Casey make hobos ride the rail....?
Avatar 6:36pm northguineahills:

(a boxcar w/o wood planks on the floor, just the metal strutting)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37pm Doug Schulkind:

Casey is shoveling sulphur in Hell, according to Joe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm davex:

Very interesting stuff. And appropriate music to work to, I suppose...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm Doug Schulkind:

Roxy's just pulling yer legs, friends.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm Doug Schulkind:

We're only $800 away from hitting our goal!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm Doug Schulkind:

Following Roxy, we'll hear a couple of folksingers from Joe's native Sweden with their takes on the martyr's songitude.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm davex:

Doug, I better try to work faster then.
Avatar 6:45pm Carmichael:

Hopefully, Eilart Pilarm won't be one of them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm Doug Schulkind:

Eilart imitates life? (Nope. No Eilart.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm Doug Schulkind:

Actually, the next song is about, not by, Joe Hill.

I heard tell that Paul Robeson and Sory Kandia Kouyate sang together once. Now what piece of your soul would you sell for a taste of that experience.

Doug, see the last paragraph, looks like Banning Eyre is your man, think you might know him.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12am Doug Schulkind:

Ha! Thanks for doing the leg work, Brian. I had Banning Eyre on as a guest on my show back in (gulp) 1988.
  10:42am annie:

"waitin' on a chance to shine"/ bruce sprinsteen tune?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47am Doug Schulkind:

@annie
That tune is by Otis Gibbs. When I grabbed it off the Web, it was labeled "Joe Hill's Ashes," so I added it to the show. Listening to it, I got to thinking that maybe it had a different title (which I corrected on the playlist). The tune comes from a collection of songs titled Joe Hill's Ashes. That was the mistake. I still wanted to play Otis Gibbs since he is one of the few known holders of an envelope of Joe Hill's actual ashes.
