I think there were already a few artists out here in 1964. The big influx occurred in the mid 70s, when prices in SoHo and TribiCa started to go up. Now most of them are gone….

Folks love a hometown figure gone famous. Director John Ford came from this area, and though he didn't seem to maintain much of a real or sentimental connection, they needed to erect a statue anyway. In many cases, the statue-motivated are a foreign locked-focus breed to me.
