(A guy pretending to be) Joel Hodgson:

Night People!
  7:03pm
eric:

this opening music sounds like a mix of e power biggs, switched on bach, and synergy, what is it really?

Steve-O:

Hello there, People of the Night! I rarely tune in, but since today's guest was the brains behind one of the coolest shows ever.....I thought, "why not"? =)
  7:07pm
P-90:

@eric: I believe that is indeed one of Walter ("Switched on Bach") Carlos' Bach recordings.

MST3K is the best show ever !

...I envision a Function on your Remote
(...everything is Interactive Algorithms now) :

- press a button &
- whatever Channel you are watching :

- Joel & the Robots' little silhouettes appear & talk smack about *whatever* you are watching !
...I will call it : 'Snubtitles' ! ...

steve:

I'm just here to gush about how much I love Joel
  7:14pm
P-90:

@RR: For it to be truly interactive, you'll have to include a feature where you can upload your own snarky comments, and they are evaluated for possible inclusion the next time that show is broadcast...

- I wonder if Joel is aware of Ken's show Wed. A.M.s ! (?)...

The show's regular commenters already post snarky comments on a weekly basis... Speaking of, I haven't seen G yet this week. He hates this show and posts under a fake name every week making fun of it.

P-90:

"G"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

G - ?!?! ; haven't seen him around for a while !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

G is a Smart Baby.

Now this is a good interview!

Didn't know the show was originally supposed to be post apocalyptic. Also sounds like it could've been an interesting premise.

JakeGould:

I actually never was the biggest fan of the show, but I really respect the creative POV being shown here.

Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...it's a little 'Clockwork Orange' : exposing him to this stuff against his will...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- I thot is was *hilarious* - & really original (nothing quite like it)
...@ the same time as being like Classic 'Horror Hosts' - as delineated in 'The Monster Show' by David J. Skal
...& as he's saying now - a tiny bit like the Muppets, as the 'starcasm' link hits...

I can't believe how many years straight they put together 22 (or so) episodes a season of a two-hour show.
  7:55pm
Steve-O:

@Dan B: Oh yeah. Takes real dedication to do that, IMHO. =)

This was fun, thanks!

- Great - Thanx All.

“I can't believe how many years straight they put together 22 (or so) episodes a season of a two-hour show.” Most of the show was movies. So it was like a radio show. Riffing is not that hard. They did it well.

Very true, but still, writing/gathering/recording 700 jokes a week is quite a feat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:00pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...it was original & consistently funny - but I said that's my opinion already...tempted to say ahead of it's time as far as what's happening online too...

Another amazing interview with a cast member of MST3K. Great job, guys. Night, People.

Bravo!

Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...wull - Jake was *not* trashing it - & he has a point: I'm enthusing whilst the guy's on the phone & it's a great interview - not while watching episode after episode...still - things about it really appealed to me...
