God.. If I were not me and I were to hear me talk... I would make fun of me for being such a shmuck.. as if it actually mattered.. like I would ever even notice.. as if this werent just me wanting to feel cool for getting the perfect pair .. ugh..

My dad invested (I'm guessing 2 grand in the 80s) on STAX headphones with the special electromagnetic headphone boxes..and He would always flip shit when I tried to use them without asking permission as a little kid.. My mom would put on records and hand me the headphones and I have real good memories of being totally blown away by those headphones.... but alas... I cannot afford the now $3-5 grand worth headphones.. I just want to get something that'll make me feel the 'WOW' I remember putting those stax on as a kid..

Summertime always reminds me of listening to Ken "Spider" Webb and Ricky Ricardo and, of course the Chief Rocker Frankie Crocker on WBLS. So when summer rolls around I start itching to play my favorite records from that era (give or take a few years) -- favorites I loved back then, and new favorites that I never heard back in the day.
In that spirit, I present the 6th nearly annual Evan "Funk" Davies Disco and/or Dance Party! I'll be spinning some classic jams from the mid-'70s and early '80s, along with some of the lesser-known nuggets. It's the kind of show that makes you say "I haven't heard this in 35 years" and "why haven't I heard this before?!" I can assure you that the beat will be turned around, your whistle will be blown, and your body will be shaken down to the ground so push the furniture against the wall and enjoy!
