Cope apparently felt the book was a fan's appreciation of the genre, written b/c there was no other info out there, and since the book came out better scholarship has been done. He felt his book was awkward and contained some misinformation. Personally I think it's a really interesting, enthusiastic, and opinionated take on the music. Very worthwhile.
