@ngh: "communist ape smut" is obvious, but what exactly is "communist ape slut" ?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm
jj.:

according to ed sanders (on the earlier played fugs track), WFMU is the sound of Communist ape-smut. we've got many years of Communist ape-smut conversations ahead, i hope.

Oh... JJ, does that make you a communist ape slut?

Dean:

Nice day to you, too, Yiannis. A question for the collective wisdom here: about an hour ago, UbuWeb was playing a file dubbed "Johnson_2009 - 1-21." Mostly solo electric guitar, but later it sounded like a small ensemble with a clarinet, perhaps a 'cello, etc. Does anybody know who this was? Derek Johnson, perhaps?
  1:10pm
Ape Smut Fan #P-90:

There's a famous clarinettist, Emma Johnson, who specializes in recordings of classical and modern pieces in small ensembles. Are you sure that "Johnson-2009" applied to the solo guitar stuff too?
  1:14pm
Dean:

I know and enjoy Emma Johnson's work -- Gerald Finzi's concerto comes to mind -- and I'm pretty sure this wasn't her. The focus for several minutes really was solo guitar that sounded a bit like less aggressive Fucking Champs. The ensemble could have been Bang on a Can, with which Derek Johnson has worked.
