	6:25am fred: I'm far too clueless about the sport to make any kind of prediction. I kinda dislike the World Cup, but only because there were fewer shows because of it

	6:38am t_J: good 1 fred .. well appointed .. this competition is fun and potentialy extraordinary but shouldn't interfere with the radio shows .. germany has the team, argentina the trump, lets focus in basic elements of friendship instead and hope for justice
	6:45am t_J: in the fact field of commodities and natural law one thing as to be perceived as mandatory, correct placement of existence according to need, momentum and value;
	6:45am fred: @t_J: I was talking about (small) live shows; there were fewer than usual because organizers feared a low turnout. Most are already struggling, so a show with only a few people showing up could be crippling
	6:56am t_J: i do get ya .. kinda like art has to stop and pay homage to the warrior effort of colorful manhood in a somewhat cruel way

	8:13am Mike Sin: It's been in the past five years or so that I started listening to those last two Them albums (from 1970 and 1971, respectively) on the "Happy Tiger" label. IIRC, Ry Cooder might be on this track.
	8:14am Nate K: Nice. What's the Ry Cooder connection? Just '70s studio work?
	8:18am Mike Sin: Yes, evidently, Alan Henderson, the bass player, believed in the band right until the end... He was the only constant member from 1964 through 1971. By 1970, IIRC, it was just him and another dude... so, session musicians were brought in to complete that self-titled LP from 1970.
	8:21am Nate K: If you distance those records from the legend of THEM (and Van, of course), they totally work as solid '70s hard rock with some soul...I think.

FOR REAL THIS TIME! With a mind-boggling combination of talent and a rock-and-roll pedigree that will leave your jaw on the floor, the members of the Hard Quartet likely need no introduction. But for the sake of due diligence, the band features Stephen Malkmus (Pavement, etc.), Matt Sweeney (Chavez, etc.), Jim White (The Dirty Three, etc.), and Emmet Kelly (Will Oldham, Ty Segall, etc.). We think that's all the info you need. They deliver a short set for BURN IT DOWN! on Friday, November 8.
