Hiya, fred.
Argentina or Germany today? And this will be the last World Cup comment I'll make:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:25am
fred:

I'm far too clueless about the sport to make any kind of prediction. I kinda dislike the World Cup, but only because there were fewer shows because of it

good 1 fred .. well appointed .. this competition is fun and potentialy extraordinary but shouldn't interfere with the radio shows .. germany has the team, argentina the trump, lets focus in basic elements of friendship instead and hope for justice

in the fact field of commodities and natural law one thing as to be perceived as mandatory, correct placement of existence according to need, momentum and value;
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:45am
fred:

@t_J: I was talking about (small) live shows; there were fewer than usual because organizers feared a low turnout. Most are already struggling, so a show with only a few people showing up could be crippling

i do get ya .. kinda like art has to stop and pay homage to the warrior effort of colorful manhood in a somewhat cruel way

sports are overrated in general, culture should be more important, glad USA puts football in its soccer position at least
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16am
Nate K:

I think OMD is slightly overrated, too, but I love this song.

Dear Mr. Burns. Thank you very much for this morning. Must now go play with matches, unsupervised, with this soundtrack in my head.
See ya later, Nate.

Mike Sin:

It's been in the past five years or so that I started listening to those last two Them albums (from 1970 and 1971, respectively) on the "Happy Tiger" label. IIRC, Ry Cooder might be on this track.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:14am
Nate K:

Nice. What's the Ry Cooder connection? Just '70s studio work?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:18am
Mike Sin:

Yes, evidently, Alan Henderson, the bass player, believed in the band right until the end... He was the only constant member from 1964 through 1971. By 1970, IIRC, it was just him and another dude... so, session musicians were brought in to complete that self-titled LP from 1970.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:21am
Nate K:

If you distance those records from the legend of THEM (and Van, of course), they totally work as solid '70s hard rock with some soul...I think.

Never too early on a Sunday morning for Gram Parsons
