From the art I'm liking it already! Howdy, Doug, and all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm Doug Schulkind:

There you go again, Listener James, telling an album by its cover. I mean, how can you not?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm holland oats:

drumma! i have dl'd but yet to de-flac
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm Doug Schulkind:

When you de-flac, you will inflate with love, holland O.
Avatar 6:00pm ndbob:

evening Doug, holland, everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00pm Doug Schulkind:

Good evening to you, ndbob!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00pm holland oats:

oh i already pre-flated - hullo nd!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:01pm dave:

Good evening, Doug and everyone!
Avatar 6:02pm hyde:

Inconstant Sol. the gift that keeps on giving.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:05pm Doug Schulkind:

Welcome aboard dave and hyde! Inconstant Sol is the second (or maybe third) coming of the late, great blog Church Number 9. So vital.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm Doug Schulkind:

This record is so gorgeously, meticulously recorded.
  6:10pm Evan in NC:

great cover, great title, and Doug loves it: sounds like a known quantity . . . or rather, quality.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:10pm listener james from westwood:

Excellent call on slapping on the headphones. I've actually plugged into the iPod so I can listen in stereo whilst cooking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm holland oats:

don't forget to wash your hands!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11pm Doug Schulkind:

Glad you're here, Evan in NC!
  6:12pm Evan in NC:

the best part of summer vacation is being able to plug back in to GTDS!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm Doug Schulkind:

In getting my head in the right place for tonight's show, I did some searching around online and stumbled on this devastatingly rich interview Ethan Iverson did with Masabumi Kikuchi. I can't recall an artist answer probing questions, and questions about other musicians, as honestly and directly. It is nothing short of vital oral history: dothemath.typepad.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:15pm Doug Schulkind:

Grab me another shrimp off the barbie, Evan! (Or just ask Barbie to bring the shrimp over, whichever is easier.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm Doug Schulkind:

I can hardly lay claim to knowing his entire catalog, but has Gary Peacock ever sounded better?
Avatar 6:23pm Evan in NC:

no frame of reference for comparison, but this sounds pretty sublime.
Avatar 6:24pm hyde:

wow, i was wondering about the percussion on this thing because it's so cool. had no idea the drummer was paralyzed from the waist down from a spinal injury about a year before this record?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm Doug Schulkind:

Yeah.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:30pm listener james from westwood:

Glorious stuff at the halfway mark.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm Doug Schulkind:

That is true, hyde. Togashi suffered a spinal injury in 1970 and performed for the rest of his life from a special wheel chair.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34pm holland oats:

i'm putting this on my iPhone so so i'll have a pocketful of poesy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm Doug Schulkind:

Poesy: The riveter.

GIVE THE DRUMMER RADIO PROGRAMMING ALERT...
Jesse Kaminsky is back home in Providence after a week in NYC and his show Kaminsky Kamoutsky is waiting in the wings. Jesse, and his special guest co-host James Falzone, will takeover the Drummer Stream at 7pm (eastern): wfmu.org...
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:42pm listener james from westwood:

Finally caught up with the Kaminsky/Sullivan team-up from last week. That was a righteous show. As is this.
Avatar 6:43pm northguineahills:

Off to the store. This has been nice, Doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm Doug Schulkind:

It was so cool to hear Jesse K and Gary S do a show together. You know, I have never met either of them face-to-face.

Ta-ta, NGH! Shop wisely!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm davex:

Yep, that was a fun show - as is this one. I'm busy with some other stuff, but enjoying the Man.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48pm davex:

Looks like the x in davex popped up again. I thought I'd give it some time off, but it won't quit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48pm Doug Schulkind:

Speaking of Gary, thanks to him for filling in for me last Friday. And speaking of filling in, I will be filling in for Gary's Bodega Pop Live tomorrow evening!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:50pm listener james from westwood:

That was transporting. Hugely glad you shared it!
Avatar 6:51pm ndbob:

excellent LP Doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51pm Wendy del Formaggio:

I tuned in about 45 minutes ago. Glad I got to hear as much as I did. What a beautiful recording.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm Doug Schulkind:

Le Madame du Frommage!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:53pm listener james from westwood:

It's quite worth a run from the beginning, once the archive's up.
Avatar 6:54pm Evan in NC:

loved it!
Avatar 6:54pm hyde:

cool record. thanks for pointing it out, it's one I hadn't snagged.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:55pm Wendy del Formaggio:

C'est moi, Doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm Doug Schulkind:

If Inconstant Sol hadn't shared this record, I daresay I would never have heard it or heard of it. There is just SO much the flies by in this life. It seems like pure luck that we get to enjoy the pleasures we have.
Avatar 6:58pm hyde:

luck is the residue of design, my friend. (I'd give a citation for this, but you're a baseball guy)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:59pm Doug Schulkind:

Branch Rickey!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 7:00pm listener james from westwood:

Many thanks, Doug, for the full-album evening! Do please continue the Obsession Session series on another occasion!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:00pm davex:

Funny, I was just reading about him and Jackie Robinson to my son.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:01pm Doug Schulkind:

More Ob/Sessions to come, methinks. That was Fun with a capital F!
