Good Wednesday, Amanda and all! My GTDR attendance has been spotty this week due to work, but happy to be ears-on now (and to have the archives for remedial listening!).

Hi, DeaconDave!

@Skirkie, I wish I had. I feel so naked and ashamed without new RF purchases.

Always wondered how The Muffs would sound doing "Basket Case." I suspect they'd set it ablaze.

@nanantatee and everyone -- this is THE place to re-hear all your first-boyfriend music, it seems. Which is GREAT!

listener james from westwood: Definitely a great fill in last week. As I told Miz A re. Twitter, I was finally reunited with the Young Fresh Fellows song, "Amy Grant." and am ridiculously happy about it. Not knowing the artist (heard, most likely in 87, when it came out,) it was not the easiest item to Google.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm
Stevel:

...and, alas, I will be checking the archive for today's show. The good news is I'm off to a press conference where GM is giving our theater money for a capital campaign, which is nice.

Ciao.

GIVE THE DRUMMER RADIO PROGRAMMING ALERT...
Beginning in a few weeks, Jesse Kaminsky is going to add an extra hour to his program, Kaminsky Kamoutsky. It begins at 7pm on Tuesday evenings and will extend now to 10pm. I will get the official word out when we have an official date. More Kaminsky! More Kamoutsky!

OK, just laughed really hard at recalling Nelson's "I can think of at least two things wrong with that title!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm
listener james from westwood:

I am reading a book on nuclear disasters. As the author begins leading up to another accident, I'm either whistling the Simpsons theme, or that bit of the Itchy & Scratchy incidental music that presages disaster.
  12:53pm
Sean:

This was a monster of an episode. Agree on the Nelson quote, James
Avatar 12:55pm
ndbob:

I'm certainly glad I left Knoxville well before the World's Fair.. @James Is that the book that came out last year to much acclaim?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm
listener james from westwood:

ndbob: This book is good and quite Mary Roach-like in spots (Atomic Accidents, James Mahaffey), but the one you're likely thinking of is "Command and Control," by "Fast Food Nation"'s Eric Schlosser—gripping, detailed, and horrifying.
Avatar 12:59pm
ndbob:

@James that is the one I was thinking of - and adding both to my endless reading list
Avatar 1:03pm

one of the record stores here in Bloomington has almost all of the Eccentric Soul releases - both CD and vinyl.

Ken From Hyde Park:

Zats...I missed Simpsons Time. I was at lunch. My favorite part of that episode is where Homer puts on the safety helmet, screams and then announces "I have thought this out." That and when he dumps the cola on the console.

CLASSIC BLOW.

another awesome show, great one to go back to work to

Be sure to tune back in to the Drummer Stream (as if you'd ever leave!) at 7pm for Gary Sullivan's Bodega Pop Live show.

And what's more, you'll get extra Bodega Pop as Gary will be filling in for me this coming Friday, 9am to noon!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm
listener james from westwood:

@ndbob, not to add to your overtaxed reading list, but hearing this Jackson 5 cut reminds me of the excellent Michael Jackson biography from last year or so. As horrifying in its way as "Command and Control."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm

Howdy all. Amanda, despite not being part of the Simpson Segment Timing discussion, it was lovely to meet you at the RF Sunday... And your beer selection was topnotch!
