Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from May 30, 2014 Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Yes & KC in one show? I guess you don't want an over-the-air show... Of course prog is best, but you'll never be allowed to do that on FM. That KC performance is just about the pinnacle of Rock Music, FWIW. Bands used to know how to write and play like that... it was a different era.

Speaking of musicianship, the drumming on The Meters song was ridiculous.

Daddy could swear, I declare! Followed by a Jackie Wilson song with swears! I always cringe when I hear swears on FMU, which is funny because I swear a lot and don't notice. Creepy how well we're trained for that nonsense, even as listeners.

This is a perfectly adequate show. I really ought to try catching it live some day... Good archive fodder, though!

One complaint: All the songs seem to cue up off-by-one (says it's playing the previous song)
