Laura Cantrell should be on the late-night TV shows, or maybe the morning TV shows. Somewhere where people can see and hear her.

  2:05am
P-90:

OK, just kidding.
  2:08am
P-90:

I wonder if she just felt there should be no "headliner-status" players in the band, she didn't want them getting credit in people's minds for whatever work John was putting out. Or John and Yoko, excuse me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12am
Matt from Springfield:

Well that's exclusionary--I thought the "Plastic Ono Band" was supposed to include EVERYONE, including those not in studio at the time..
Avatar 2:12am
BadGuyZero:

She thought they were trying to swindle John.
  2:16am

@ BGZ: Do go on, haven't heard this particular scuttlebutt before. You mean they asked for a piece of the royalties or...?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16am

You were nobody then, unless you managed to swindle a Beatle.
  2:18am
P-90:

Matt: one of your funniest lines ever! LOL
  2:18am
rw:

Hmmm... trying to put this into context. When was Double Fantasy? Must have been after Cheap Trick had been playing for a while, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19am
Matt from Springfield:

@P-90: Oh, don't flatter! ;)
  2:21am
JakeGould:

Double Fantasy was in 1980. John Lennon wanted a mix of musicians he never played with before & he arranged it that they would play as a group but not know who the final artist was until the real sessions. Unsure about the Yoko Ono gossip aspect of this. It could jus be unnecessary drama connected to an experiment in “mixing it up” with different musicians.
  2:23am
P-90:

@ rw: I remember those days, yeah, Cheap Trick had had their hits, ridden the MTV machine, yeah, the were big, maybe as big/bigger than before or since.
  2:23am
rw:

Interesting. Thanks. I'm going to dig up that LP. I think I've got a copy buried in a closet somewheres.
  2:30am
JakeGould:

Oh boy! Goth time!
  2:31am
P-90:

I remember my Mom saved a copy of Newsweek (or Time?) for me, there was a pretty long cover story about John coming "back" after taking time to raise Sean and chill out from the biz- -and drugs, etc.
The 2 singles from DF were on the radio, there was a real good vibe about it, not like WOW Lennon is BACK, more like: yeah, sure, John's still around, he's with us, he's putting a new record out, and saying he wants to be more outspoken again about "issues."
Then, right in the middle of all that, he was just suddenly gone.
