Holy crow! I was afraid the zombie CD got fried. Luckily, it was just a minor egregious technical error.

so much better than Goblin
Avatar 12:10am
Wm.:

We were just talking & distracted, Dave H., his guest, and I. I like the minor errors. Hola, Samantha! Saw your LinkedIn photo- your eyes are incredible, hypnotic! ...And Frenchy, it's all damn good; I couldn't say Frizzi is "better" - you're free to, of course.
  12:11am
Frenchy:

Different. Sorry.

This Tzadisk release is reminding me of some of Burzum's prison release stuff circa Balder's Dod but I like it!

I was really taken with this piece; it's also entitled, "In Gloria Dei," which does make me cringe a bit. But I'm hoping the God Zorn was referring to was himself, not "the" God.

@hola-soymilk LinkedIn is cool, especially for us with non-conventional employment, freelancers and the like. Your eyes- functional AND very pretty! I'm such an apple-polisher!

Frenchy:

Wm, is Zorn the one playing the organ here? Wish he did more of this stuff if it is.
Avatar 12:20am
Wm.:

Yes, it's Zorn playing; of course, he got access to the massive organ at St. Paul's Chapel.
Avatar 12:22am
hola-soymilk:

apple polisher is a funny phrase
Avatar 12:24am

Better than "knob-polisher"! I don't DO that any more, my appreciation of women is purely aesthetic; I'm basically a black-metal monk.

Zorn's label is the only thing that could tear me away from my elitist bs about loving underground punk/grindcore. Tzadik saved my life.

This playing now? Sorry, I have no idea. You might look up a gentleman named Matt Mckeever on Facebook and write to him; tell him you heard it on my show. Pretty sure he sent it with an order I placed with him. ...There is precious little info on the tape itself.

whoa whoa whoa I'm in love with this song (I say this a lot)
Avatar 1:18am
Wm.:

Sheet, this sounds like Siouxsie, in the best-possible way. ... This show is about 75-80% my stuff and 20-25% WFMU library / new bin. Both sources are voluminous; WFMU's beyond all comprehension, it's intimidating.

  1:36am
Frenchy:

What are your thoughts about Whitehouse, Wm? And/or early Psychic TV?
Avatar 1:40am
Wm.:

I like 'em both, select tracks from select records. My favorite Whitehouse is the early collab with NWW, the 150 Murderous Passions, where he just SHUTS UP about baby rape and such, and just plays. The best early Psychic TV is that Live Sweden LP. ...
  1:42am
Frenchy:

So you don't like Dreams Less Sweet? Now I'm looking up that live sweden lp on ebay...hope its not 200usd lol
Avatar 1:44am
Wm.:

Dreams Less Sweet is good; I had a friend's copy on loan for a while. I didn't feel the need to own it. I'm much less enamored of Gen's pop efforts than I am of his noise work, that said "Godstar" is an amazing song. Really, I prefer TG to any Psychic TV, to be perfectly honest. PTV are very hit-or-miss.
  1:45am
microneezia:

his best work is coum transmissions!
Avatar 1:49am
Wm.:

...uh, that stuff is too art-house wank for me, as is the collab with ATV, which I had high hopes for, being a huge ATV fan. There are many artists whose "fudging it," basement-tape work is better, just one opinion. ...
  1:49am
Frenchy:

Omg Godstar...great song for sure. If for no other reason than Genesis' obsessive nature is on full view. I own a lot of TG stuff on vinyl but didn't really get into it much until I heard Force The Hand...that was years after I got into "Blood on the floor" era stuff.
Avatar 1:51am
map:

Dreams Less Sweet is recorded in Holophonic. I didn't know this when I decided to listen to it the first time laying down with headphones. It was interesting.

But, yeah, the Singles comp is probably the most listenable Psychic TV though they have some good live recordings and other tracks throughout.
  1:53am
microneezia:

but he pioneered 2 girls one cup, by himself!

Was very hard for me to get into Gen P's ouvre at first, but definitely Dreams was the easiest for me to start with

Omg. Wm, do you come from the same background as I? Grindcore/blastbeat was the only thing I listened to before. Is that where you started your journey as well?
Avatar 2:05am
hola-soymilk:

Does everyone not listen to grind?
Avatar 2:05am
hola-soymilk:

and by everyone I mean everyone in the US
Avatar 2:05am
Wm.:

@ Frenchy - I'm old, very old. Listened to Elton John as a pre-teen, then quickly sunk deep into Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and the like. Then punk happened and blew my mind- the NY stuff, the UK stuff, the LA stuff, everything. Then thrash, grind, SST, post-punk like Wire and Mission of Burma...then drones and minimalism, Krautrock, Frog Prog, Magma, etc. etc. etc. Into the 90s, black metal, lots of it. I've always loved experimental / industrial, since it was a really active genre in the mid-80s. So I've always been all over the music map. ...
  2:08am
Frenchy:

@Wm. well put and understood.
  2:10am

Avatar 2:17am
Wm.:

That horrible sound brought to you by the "great" cassette format. Two other basically irreplacable tapes got chewed in the record-library player. STOP PUTTING OUT TAPES! THE FORMAT EATS SHIT! ...I switched decks before this Fluisteraars tape was destroyed. I buy tapes ONLY because in many a case it's the only way to get some great music. But the format sucks, and should be left to die.
Avatar 2:18am
Wm.:

You mean Death Factory? It's Michael Krause, most definitely from Chicago.
Avatar 2:19am
hola-soymilk:

haha maybe this is why I like it, I love crappy tapes
Avatar 2:19am
hola-soymilk:

ok good thing, the guys from chicago looked like DORKS
  2:19am
Frenchy:

I only release noises on tape, sry
Avatar 2:21am
Wm.:

Very few radio stations have good decks anymore. I buy rare tapes, and they get destroyed here. It's not practical; it's elitist, as in, "only certain, select individuals can own / hear my music."
Avatar 2:22am
Wm.:

I love crappy tapes, too, in a romantic sense, but from a DJ / radio standpoint, they are an aggravation. Too often, the internal mechanism fails.

I have friends from Anal Blast if u want to talk to them for your show, Wm. Lemme know.
Avatar 2:28am
Wm.:

Sorry to rage, I'm just tired of having my rare / treasured purchases destroyed. I have a hi-end Sony deck at home, and some tapes drag or jam in that one, too. It depends on the blanks the artist or label uses; if they're crap, they won't last, and need to be dubbed to digital rip. Then there's the drop-outs. ...
Avatar 2:29am
Wm.:

Well, I don't like to do phone interviews, that's an awkward setup, HOWEVER, if they tour, I'd jump at the chance to have them on live. THANKS
  2:29am
