Rather, SD helped to legitimize so "cool" an approach to rock music--bolstered by the overt enlistment of superb, virtuoso studio musicians--that former wannabe headbangers decided instead not to fret too much about pushing boundaries (of volume, speed, vocal excess). Yes, @Stanley, precisely. And of course "sophisticated" is a double-edged word...

Rather, SD helped to legitimize so "cool" an approach to rock music--bolstered by the overt enlistment of superb, virtuoso studio musicians--that former wannabe headbangers decided instead not to fret too much about pushing boundaries (of volume, speed, vocal excess). Yes, @Stanley, precisely. And of course "sophisticated" is a double-edged word...
