Hey all... I'm on time today.. for a change.
Avatar 3:17pm northguineahills:

Is there a Soul Jazz release that isn't awesome?
Avatar 3:24pm andrewfetter:

Afternoon all! Usually an archive listener, but finally able to listen live today! Excellent set so far!
Avatar 3:30pm BadGuyZero:

Holy hell...John Lydon is portraying King Herod in a touring production of "Jesus Christ Superstar."

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm mariano:

@BGZ: Yes, holy hell is right. Like I told a friend yesterday, I think there's a passage in Revelation about a shark jumping a shark. But, who knows? Might be fun(ny).
  3:35pm Peanut:

is it wrong to say that the sex pistols kind of suck?
  3:36pm Peanut:

i thought PIL was pretty good though
Avatar 🍒 3:38pm David Shortell:

The Herod role is comedic. Josh Mostel (son of Zero) played him in the film version.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm mariano:

No way @ David S, had no freakin' idea, and I've known the movie since I was a toddler! I know that on the original album Herod's played by Mike D'Abo, of Manfred Mann.
Avatar 3:50pm BadGuyZero:

Deep Purple's Ian Gillan was Jesus on the original album [which preceded the stage musical]. Murray Head ["One Night in Bangkok"] was Judas on that album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm mariano:

Yeah, always liked the Gillan/Head pair-up much better than the movie cast. Gillan's got a messianic voice, and Head's got a really underrated voice. Love me some early Scorpions too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm mariano:

This Scorpions sounds a bit like Highway Star, speaking of Gillan...
Avatar 4:04pm andrewfetter:

I definitely need to pick up this Giuda album. I've had Wild Tiger Woman stuck in my head since you played it last week.
Avatar 4:06pm Callieflower:

Hiii, everyone

  4:43pm lulu:

What IS cyberpunk?
  4:44pm lulu:

And what's a book that was fall in the "steampunk" genre?
  4:45pm lulu:

*would (not was)
  4:45pm neelc23:

@lulu

An awful Billy Idol album.
Avatar 4:46pm Drizzle Boots:

cyberpunk not to be confused with the book, Cypherpunks / Julian Assange et al. Very good read, published 2012
Avatar 4:46pm andrewfetter:

Lulu: For books - William Gibson - Neuromancer or Phillip K Dick - Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep (the basis for Blade Runner)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47pm Stevel:

"Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction that typically features steam-powered machinery,[1] especially in a setting inspired by industrialised Western civilisation during the 19th century. "

I had no idea, although I've seen artwork.

en.wikipedia.org...
  4:49pm Listener Jumpy in Brooklyn:

Cyberpunk and steampunk come from science fiction
  4:52pm Listener Jumpy in Brooklyn:

DO ANDROIDS novel dates from 1968, before anybody used the term "steampunk." Movie is from '92, also before the term was used.
Avatar 🍒 4:52pm David Shortell:

@andrewfetter
PKD died years before Gibson coined that stupid word!
Avatar 4:55pm andrewfetter:

Sorry, misread the book question
  4:55pm lulu:

Interesting. Thanks!!
  5:02pm KP:

  5:09pm neelc23:

Point taken.
